There are a few movie franchises that we watch and they defines a part of our childhood. One of those, Jumanji, has always been a part of our adulthood and we are thankful for it.
The original movie, which aired in 1995 and starred Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst, made us afraid to play board games for quite some time. Not that we’re complaining about that — it got us out of quite a few family game nights.
Now, Jumanji 3 has a release date. Sony has announced that the movie will release on December 11, 2026. A Christmas time release date it what we definitely need.
One thing that we loved about the sequel to Jumanji was that it evolved with the times. In 2017’s movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, “Four high school kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game’s jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose.” Video games were definitely more popular and it felt as though they were seeing that a board game may not be relatable.

In the 2019 movie, Jumanji: The Next Level, “the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to rescue one of their own, the players will have to brave parts unknown from arid deserts to snowy mountains, to escape the world’s most dangerous game.”
We’re hoping that all the stars of the Jumanji movies will return. Director Jake Kasdan and the stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan are all in talks.
Are you excited for more Jumanji? Tell us all the things.
