NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 5 ‘Last Rites’ really seems to be the episode that starts the time-honored procedural tradition of giving the main cast character-centric episodes every once in a while, episodes that are often used to further characterization and give us a glimpse of who these people are outside of the job we see them do every day.
This week, it’s Franks’s turn, and it’s about time. No knock on Gibbs because the episodes that have centered on him have been pretty good, but if this show is ever going to be more than the Gibbs show, we gotta start paying off the promise of the “Enter Sandman, Part 1” and that means not just figuring out why this is a story about Lala, but learning about the team around Gibbs.
Hey, maybe the show just wants to save the Lala part for the finale? Either way, we’ll take learning more about Franks.
