Somehow, there are only two months left in the year, but Netflix isn’t taking that as a sign to slow down with their sports entertainment. In fact, it is rolling out so much content in November that it dominates this month’s Fansportish column. From live sporting events (Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson) to scripted (Senna) and unscripted programming (Saudi Pro League: Kickoff), Netflix has it all throughout November. We gathered every project in one place, so you don’t miss a thing.
Friday, November 1: It’s All Over: The Kiss That Changed Spanish Football
From You First Originals and directed by Joanna Pardos, It’s All Over: The Kiss That Changed Spanish Football was announced by Netflix in October. It’s a new documentary told in the first person, and it premieres on Friday, November 1. The project will “reveal previously unknown details and analyze the key aspects of the social movement that captured global attention after Spain’s victory in the 2023 Women’s World Cup,” per Netflix’s description.
Key figures and players featured in It’s All Over: The Kiss That Changed Spanish Football include Jenni Hermoso, Alexia Putellas, Irene Paredes, Aitana Bonmatí, Olga Carmona, Teresa Abelleira, Ivana Andrés, Laia Codina, Sandra Paños, and Lola Gallardo. Some will “meet for the first time to relive and speak exclusively about how, after years of injustice, an inappropriate kiss sparked a national debate, high-level dismissals, and forever changed Spanish women’s football.”
As much as It’s All Over: The Kiss That Changed Spanish Football is about the scandal that overshadowed the Spanish women’s football team’s win, Netflix shares that it is also “about unity and friendship, a reflection on the concept of a team and its significance beyond personal goals.” Pardos shared, “The players recount their experiences they have lived over the past year from a place they’ve never spoken from before. It’s the first time they’re discussing this for many of them. It’s a privilege to have such personal testimonies of a milestone that has marked a before and after in the sports and social history of our country.” Javier Martínez and Luis Miguel Calvo are executive co-producers.
It’s All Over: The Kiss That Changed Spanish Football premieres on Friday, November 1, on Netflix.
