We have been waiting forever for news on the third season of Amazon Prime’s series Harlem from creator and writer Tracy Oliver, But have no fear—our prayers have been answered because we now know when to expect the series. We even got a first look at the beautiful foursome Camille (Meagan Good), Tye (Jerrie Johnson), Quinn (Grace Byers), and Angie (Shoniqua Shandai) back together.
When we last saw the ladies in the season two finale in February last year, they had all undergone some life changes. Camille was navigating a new-ish relationship with her ex-boyfriend Ian while also working on a project that could get her tenure and ultimately elevate her career as a professor at Columbia University. Tye, who had finally ended a contentious divorce, was starting to figure out who she was and what she wanted out of life. She launched a new dating app, leading to some interesting relationship drama.
Quinn, who had an incredibly rough year of finding herself while battling depression, was struggling a bit in the relationship department as well. She briefly dated a woman, but it was cut short when she got too emotionally invested. She dove into another relationship, which messed up her friendship with Angie. Ultimately, Quinn and Angie did repair their relationship, and Quinn realized she needed to take some time out to learn to love herself. Angie, who supported Quinn every step of the way, started to find her footing as an actress, and she found love and ended up being proposed to. We don’t know how that turned out, but we’ll see come season three as it prepares to introduce us to some new characters.
In addition to the leading ladies, Tyler Lepley, who plays Ian, will also return. Then there is the matter of those new people heading to the canvas. According to Deadline, Kofi Siriboe, Logan Browning, Robin Givens, and Gail Bean will join the cast in recurring roles. Siriboe will portray Seth, an MLB player whose confident, charming, and sweet mannerisms land him a spot in one of the ladies’ hearts. Browning will portray Portia, an edgy and beautiful woman from Ian’s childhood, whose return to Harlem causes a stir. Givens will portray Jacqueline, Eva’s no-nonsense mother. Bean will portray Given’s daughter, Eva, a driven yet playful venture capitalist who has started working with Tye (Jerrie Johnson).
All new players heading to Harlem will undoubtedly bring some drama. We are particularly curious about Ian and his past with Portia because didn’t we already do this messy relationship drama for him and Camille? How close were he and Portia? And what does that mean for his and Camille’s relationship? Is this going to once again lead to the end of them as a couple? And what about Quinn? The first look photo of her and Seth indicates something is brewing between them. If so, how ready is she to step into another relationship? Will Angie and Mike make it down the aisle or will she feel like she’s rushing into something she’s not ready for? Will Tye find a balance between work and making time for romance?
Then, there is the matter of that cliffhanger in Harlem Season 2, Episode 8, “Joy, Joy, Joy.” Who is prego? We still don’t have that answer, and we are dying to know. One thing we know for sure is that we will be seated for every bit of the drama that’s to come.
