Deadline is reporting that we’re going to get more Gabriel Macht on our screens! We’ve been been kinda dying for this kind of news for a while now, but we weren’t at all expecting this. Or maybe, in retrospect, we should have expected it. See, we get Macht back — we even get our beloved Harvey Specter back — but it’s on Suits LA. In case you’ve missed our hot takes on the entire concept of a spinoff, much less having a certain scabby actor star in it, let’s just say we’ve been less than excited. But, well, throw all of that out the window because [Insert Firm Name Here]’s infamous closer will have us seated. We never said any of those negative things, we swear. Just ask our very pretty, very Harvard-grad, very hired-a-fraud lawyer.
With that being said, we do have questions. Big ones. Lots of them…some not so pleasant, so we’re going to keep them to ourselves. We will, however, ask the obvious: If Harvey’s visiting L.A., where’s his wife? Because, full offense: If we have to pretend Donna doesn’t exist for an entire multi-episode arc, we can’t be held responsible for our reactions. We just can’t. So, be sure to look away — and probably plug your ears to avoid the endless screaming. (Honestly, we’ll be screaming no matter what. Because: Gabriel Macht! Harvey Reginald Specter! Mr. Donna Paulsen!)
On a related note, what are Mike and Rachel up to these days? Jessica? Louis and (ugh) Sheila? These are questions we were hoping would be left to the realm of fanfiction since the original series had such a perfect ending. (We cried. We still cry every time.) But, well. With Gabriel Macht gracing Suits: LA with his god-tier presence, the people are gonna demand answers. And we’ve got some advice, which we’re going to borrow from RuPaul’s Drag Race: Don’t f—ck it up. As in, do not take our comfort character’s beautiful arc and reduce him down to the most surface-level, misunderstood, empty version of him. Because even in the beginning, even when he was his “worst” self, he was still so much more than just “cocky lawyer with one-liners.” Just. Please don’t go there.
Speaking of: Could someone throw us a bone and, like, not go there with making him shave the hiatus scruff? Give the people the beard!
MORE: Check out what we had to say about Suits getting a new life on Netflix — and what a lot of people seemed to be getting wrong about it. Some thoughts on Lex Scott Davis being cast in Suits LA. This is why we originally didn’t want Gabriel Macht, and the rest of the OGs, to visit Suits LA.
Now that Gabriel Macht will be there, do you plan to watch some Suits LA? Leave us a comment!
We’d say we’re getting the can opener, but. Well. Ours still seems to have gotten lost in the mail.
Suits: LA premieres Sunday, February 23, at 9/8c on NBC.
