When it comes to Hailee Steinfeld, we feel like we’ve watched her grow up. It’s one of those moments in life that you see someone and you’re like good for all of the things that they’ve accomplished in life and you want nothing more than to see them succeed.
And to be happy.
We’ve been so excited for her, ever since we found out that the superstar got engaged on November 22nd. Her longtime beau, Josh Allen, proposed in Malibu amongst a bunch of pink flowers.
And now the two are talking a bit about their engagement in Steinfeld’s BEAU Society Newsletter. In the newsletter Hailee said, “While I can’t wait to tell you more about the day and things we’re planning, I’m not ready quite yet. I have to hold this close for a little while longer. All the happy tears have just barely dried. Whenever we tell the story, look back at photos, or even say ‘We’re engaged’ or ‘We’re getting married’ I start crying.”
We love that she’s that excited and gets all the feels. We were a little surprised that in the newsletter, Josh Allen was the one who opened up more than Steinfeld did.
Allen said, “The funniest thing was that we woke up and were getting ready for brunch and you jumped on the bed and said, ‘Can we get married already?!? What are you waiting for??!'”
He then continued, “I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal. It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you. Multiple times throughout the day, a song would come on and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”
We love that he was able to keep such a surprise from her. That can’t have been easy, especially with all of the people that he must have had to entrust to help him pull off the secret.
He recalled saying (during the proposal) to her, “I said I can’t wait to start a family with you. I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said please.”
“I didn’t blow it nor did anyone else,” Allen added. “You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me.”
We’re thrilled for them and hope that they are basking in all the love and glow of their engagement.
