It’s not every day that you get to interview an actress as cool and fun as Brooke Lee, star of the latest Passionflix film, Lick, based on the book by Kylie Scott. Before we even started our interview, we were awestruck by a piece of art on her wall. We didn’t expect her to tell us it was one of her own pieces. And that she sells her work. Now, forgive us; this may have been something some of you already knew, but we were excited nonetheless.
Her enthusiasm when speaking about her art was palpable, and we loved the way her eyes lit up when she talked about how much she loves making people happy with her art. This was a great way for us to kick off our interview.
On what it was about Evelyn that made her want to play her:
“I really loved that this character Evelyn is a curvier girl in a sexy role. I love that she is not the stereotypical size zero and I mean that’s a huge thing in Hollywood that we see a lot of women that are beautiful, stunning and everyone should be able to be seen but there’s not much representation in a sexy role for someone who has a little bit more meat on their bones and I think that it was really important to showcase that as well so I really loved that about Evelyn. That was the very first impression that I got when I read more about her.”
This is something we also loved about Evelyn because, as Brooke pointed out, curvier girls do not get a lot of representation in the Romance genre. We were glad to see that wasn’t the case with ‘Lick.’ Evelyn was incredibly confident in her skin, and Brooke did a great job bringing that confidence out onscreen.
On what was most challenging about playing Evelyn:
“It was my first time being the lead on something, which meant that I was in 102 of 104 scenes. So it was an absolute marathon. There was no downtime. I had to know all of my lines and make sure that I was on the ball at all times. That was honestly not that challenging. It was challenging in a way that I hadn’t done it before. I absolutely loved it. I live for it. It was.. it fueled my soul. It made me so happy.”
This sounds like it was a lot to take on, but Brooke knocked it out of the park. And even though she didn’t find this all that challenging, there was one thing that did challenge her a little. To hear what that was, check out the full interview below:
