We’re back! Outlander Season 7 Episode 15 ‘Written in My Own Heart’s Blood’ is an episode that builds the final shocking moments between Jamie and Claire little by little, although some plots like Roger and Brianna’s take you out of the emotional state of the rest of the episode and that makes that construction end up being irregular. Ready?
Here we go!

Close Family Ties

In the past, things are shaky between Roger and Buck during Outlander Season 7 Episode 15 ‘Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.’ Roger ends up confessing the truth about his parents but that’s not what bothers Buck the most, instead what bothers him is that Roger didn’t tell him before. After everything they’ve been through together, everything Buck’s done for him and his family, Roger hid this from him and didn’t give him the chance to at least talk to his parents.
Roger can excuse himself with the fear that Buck would change history if he knew the truth, but it would only be that, an excuse. The truth is that Buck has a point here because Roger did have the opportunity to meet his father, to see him, to talk to him — even if he didn’t tell him the truth — and Buck helped him, but Roger wasn’t able to do the same for him. And that wasn’t right. It wasn’t fair.
That’s why we like that in Outlander Season 7 Episode 15 ‘Written in My Own Heart’s Blood’ Roger is able to recognize his mistake and ask Buck for help, to recognize that he needs him. If this journey has served anything, it’s to strengthen the bonds between them, although we would have liked to see more of that because we barely saw them interact and it’s a little difficult to believe this type of scenes that are based on a special bond between them in which Buck is capable of sacrificing himself for Roger and his family.

Deception and Betrayal in Outlander Season 7 Episode 15 ‘Written in My Own Heart’s Blood’

Ian and Lord John’s plan works out perfectly in Outlander Season 7 Episode 15 ‘Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.’ The two manage to save William and he is forced to thank them both because, really, he feels grateful that they saved his life but that doesn’t change anything. His animosity with Ian is still there and as for John…William feels disappointed and betrayed by him.
John is the man who raised him, the one who held his hand while he became a man and taught him to be one, instilling in him his values. John is the father who made him feel proud of his name, his family, and his legacy. And he just discovered that all of that was nothing but a lie. John is a hypocrite.
And, if that weren’t enough, his father is a Scottish traitor. Along with the pride of his name, William learned from a young age the love and loyalty to his country, the backbone of being a man of honor, and knowing that his true father is the opposite of that ends up stripping him of everything he believed in, of his identity.
In Outlander Season 7 Episode 15 ‘Written in My Own Heart’s Blood’ it is clear that William thinks that Jamie is a man without honor and loyalty, when in reality he is the opposite. Although John tries to make William see that he is wrong about Jamie, he is too angry and hurt to understand, he is not yet ready…but he will.

My Own Heart’s Blood

Everything that happens in Outlander Season 7 Episode 15 ‘Written in My Own Heart’s Blood’ leads us to those shocking last moments between Jamie and Claire. She knew that this time was different. Claire has been in too many battles and fought in too many wars to know when something feels that way. She can feel it in her bones. It’s not exactly a premonition of death for Jamie…but Claire just feels that something is not right.
As it could not be otherwise, she is right. When everything seemed calm, things got out of control and Claire ended up mortally wounded and, suddenly, all the words of love, all the fear and apprehension that Jamie and Claire have been feeling, the breath they have been holding, make sense.
But it can’t be, their story can’t end there, Jamie cries, screams, and prays…and he emphasizes how much he loves her. He is not going to let Claire go because he will go with her a moment later. Nothing can separate them, not even death.

Other Stuff in Outlander Season 7 Episode 15 ‘Written in My Own Heart’s Blood’

- Those scenes of Jamie and Claire practically in silence, without music, are the most special, the most emotional, and the sweetest thing this show has given us in years. They don’t need music. The words and the looks are enough.
- We know Claire is going to be okay! She has to…
- Seeing Jamie so absolutely devastated has broken my heart.
- I hope he kills the a***hole who shot.
- The moment when Jamie writes his message of resignation with Claire’s blood… it’s absolutely shocking. She is his heart, his soul and he writes that resignation with her blood because, even though he would never abandon his men, there is no way in hell that he is leaving Claire’s side, she is the most important thing, she is the only thing that matters.
- Denzel and Rachel are our heroes and our hope.
- That doctor can go to he**, the only thing that macho pig cared about was saving his own a**.
- I have to admit that I didn’t fully agree with Claire’s position of staying out, in that situation my survival instinct would have won over me.
- Fanny is wonderful and we NEED William to manage to save Jane.
- And also for him to eat all the bad words about Jamie.
- The way John talks about Jamie…
- We were surprised that Ian killed that man, but it’s not really that surprising, he was putting William in danger and, whatever, he is part of his family and Ian would do anything for his family.
- I hope Brianna can reunite with Roger. It’s time for this plot to find its meaning.
