We’ve been dreading this day. 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5, Episode 12 means the show is officially over, and that’s just depressing. But how did it end? Did the 126 survive the asteroid? What about Tommy? Is she still alive? Well, “Homecoming” answered all of those questions and more in the series finale.
126 Forever

Having an asteroid strike wasn’t enough drama for this series finale. The show decided to add a nuclear situation as well. While the team tries to find the button to shut down the nuclear reactor, there’s an explosion that injures Owen, Mateo, Judd, Marjan, and Paul.
Things looked bleak. They all had very serious injuries and it seemed like they weren’t going to make it. And even if they survived their injuries, there was just the small fact that they would probably die anyway if Owen didn’t reach the button in time. But Owen gets there at the very last second (literally!) to save everyone. Except maybe himself.
We have to give it to Judd. When everyone, especially Mateo, seemed like they were ready to give up, Judd made them rally. The 126 doesn’t give up, and they all stick together. Until the very end.
Five Months Later

After these very exciting events, “Homecoming” skips ahead five months, and we have most of our questions answered. The biggest one? Tommy not only survived, but she’s in remission! Okay, so we’re relieved, obviously, but we’re also kind of irritated. We thought she was dead. Last week she was unconscious on her couch seeing her dead husband. What was the point of that only to go into remission this week? But, again, we’re very happy she lived. Her daughters won’t have to lose another parent, and she will get to save more lives as Captain Vega.
TK decides to quit his job and be a stay-at-home dad. We kind of predicted that would happen after TK and Carlos were not approved to be Jonah’s guardians. We know TK loved his job, but he loves Jonah more. He looked pretty content with his life at the end of the episode. We think he’s going to be a fantastic stay-at-home dad, and a great husband and father. We’re so proud of the man he’s become.
And, besides, would have TK been happy working at the 126 without his dad there? This leads us to…
New Leadership at the 126

There’s a new captain at the 126! We’re so happy for Judd, and it seems like everything has come full circle. The 126 was always meant to be Judd’s. We loved the throwback to the first episode and Judd talking about his former firefighters. A few tears may or not have been shed. We know the firehouse will be in good hands with Judd.
The show did a good job of convincing us Owen passed away. He was injured and not responding, and TK’s conversation with Carlos made it seem like he was gone. Fortunately, he survived, and he took the position in New York. This was probably the best ending for Owen. He’ll always have a place in Texas, but just like Judd always belonged as the 126 Captain, Owen always belonged in New York. And we knew he’ll be back to visit. He can’t stay away from TK and his friends for too long.
Other Thoughts:

- Mateo didn’t get deported. Yay! It did add a bit of humor to the episode when he was in court. He definitely didn’t hold back with the judge.
- Marjan’s pregnant! She’s going to be an amazing mom. We really wish we would be able to see it.
- “Homecoming” did a pretty good job of wrapping up everyone’s stories, but we wish we had gotten more time. We would have loved to see Judd run the 126 with Paul as his second in command. We wish we could have seen Paul have more of a non-work-related story. We also would have loved to watch TK and Carlos raise Jonah. Maybe there will be a spin-off in the future? Please?
With this, we say goodbye to the 126. I’ve enjoyed writing about 9-1-1: Lone Star and these characters over the last few years. I’m really going to miss it.
