Hulu’s A Thousand Blows is here to be our new obsession! While Bridgerton explores life in the richest part of London, this new historical drama shows us the other side, delving into the poorest and most dangerous part of the city. Basically, where the law is imposed by the criminals who have managed to reach the top. And it’s time to analyze everything we know about the show.
The show is created by Steven Knight, the acclaimed screenwriter behind Peaky Blinders. Plus, Stephen Graham plays a key role in the story and is an executive producer. Malachi Kirby takes on the lead role. Alongside him is Erin Doherty — who we met in The Crown — in a crucial role within a powerful criminal organization. Stephen Graham plays a feared and respected fighter within the underground boxing circuit.
A Thousand Blows revolves around the fight for survival in a hostile and merciless environment. It’s a place where newcomers must confront power and violence to make their way, while their loyalties are tested.

As Hezekiah finds fortune and fame through the art of pugilism, he attracts the attention of the infamous Queen of the Forty Elephants, Mary Carr, who sets about exploiting his talents to further her criminal enterprise. Meanwhile, the menacing and self-declared emperor of the East End boxing world, Sugar Goodson, determines to destroy Hezekiah whose ambitions to fight in the West End threatens everything he has built.
