We’re filing this under please don’t let this happen. Yes, we know that we live in a world where things are remade all of the time. We know that it happens. We know that things we loved are in the rotation for someone thinking that they can reboot it.
A Walk To Remember is one of my favorite movies of all time. Shane West and Mandy Moore made that movie special and it will forever be special because of them. The 2002 film adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks book brought us great music and a cast that transcends time. It is a romance that remains popular to this day.
“I am so grateful to Steve and Monarch Media for giving all of us the opportunity to bring this enduring and inspirational story of faith, hope and love to a new generation, all qualities we need now more than ever,” original producer Denise Di Novi said in a statement.
Producer Hunt Lowry added, “I’m delighted to be bringing this timeless story to a new generation of moviegoers, and it’s great to be working with Denise again and the Monarch team.
It remains popular, so I wonder why it is that anyone feels the need to remake it. But, I do believe that it is something that we are all painfully aware of – when rights to something become available again, people will hop on those rights. There is no shame in that.
But remaking A Walk To Remember, there is a fear here. Monarch Media has secured the rights for the potential remake. The will remake with A Walk To Remember original producers Denise Di Novi and Hunt Lowry.
If you aren’t familiar with the original it, “follows the rite of passage of a jaded, aimless high school senior (Shane West) who falls in love with a guileless young woman (Mandy Moore) he and his friends once scorned. The two develop a powerful and inspirational relationship in which they discover truths that take most people a lifetime to learn.”
What do you think of the potential remake? Would you want to watch it?
