What, like casting is hard? Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel, Elle, has added another member of the Woods family! Tom Everett Scott is the latest addition to the cast, playing Wyatt Woods.
According to Deadline, Scott’s role will be a series regular. He joins Lexi Minetree, who plays a teenage Elle, and June Diane Raphael, who plays his wife and Elle’s mom, Eva. In the original Legally Blonde, James Read briefly played Elle’s dad, who wasn’t so sure about her Harvard plans. No description has been released yet for the character of Wyatt, so we don’t know much about his personality or his role in the show.
Tom Everett Scott has been a Hollywood mainstay for decades, mostly in quirky comedies and supporting roles. His breakout was a pair of movies in the ’90s: the music comedy That Thing You Do!, where he played drummer Guy, and as the title character of An American Werewolf in Paris. He’s also appeared in a slew of movies and TV shows. Among his many credits are La La Land, ER, How to Get Away with Murder, Southland, and Scream. More recently, he appeared as Mr. Down in 13 Reasons Why and Adam Fisher in The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Further casting has not been announced for the much-anticipated Legally Blonde prequel. Elle is created by Laura Kittrell, who serves as co-showrunner alongside Caroline Dries. Witherspoon and her production company, Hello Sunshine, are among the executive producers, as is MGM Studios. Elle will follow a teenaged Elle Woods in high school, as she grows into the girl who will become a sorority queen and a (very pink-clad) Harvard lawyer.
