Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero tv show promises to be an exciting take on the author’s classic. With a talented cast, the most interesting part will be seeing how each character’s story develops and how their relationships drive the central mystery. Here are five things we want to see in the series. Ready?
Here we go!
1. A Complex Portrait of Nevile Strange

Nevile Strange (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) is the most enigmatic character in the story. A tennis star and charming man, he seems to have everything under control… but what is he really hiding? In the novel, his relationship with his ex-wife Audrey and his new wife Kay is tense, so we can expect it to be as tense in Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero. And we definitely want to see how the series explores his character. We want to know if he’s really as kind and rational as he seems, or if there’s a darker side beneath the surface.
2. The Conflict Between Audrey and Kay

Audrey Strange (Ella Lily Hyland) and Kay Strange (Mimi Keene) are two completely different women trapped in an awkward situation: living in the same house with Nevile. The tension between them is crucial to the story that will unfold before us and the mystery surrounding it. We’d like the series to show the depth of their emotions: Is Kay jealous of Audrey? Why does Audrey seem so cold and reserved?

3. Lady Tressilian

Lady Tressilian (Anjelica Huston) is the elderly owner of the house where the story takes place, and her strong personality dominates the interactions of the other characters. In the novel, her judgment of Nevile and his relationship with Audrey is key to the development of the conflict. And we hope that Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero gives her an even more important role, showing how she wields her influence over the rest of the family like an intricate web and how her decisions affect everyone in the house.
4. Detective Inspector Leach

Matthew Rhys plays Detective Inspector James Leach, who has the difficult task of uncovering the truth behind the murder. In many Christie adaptations, the detectives can seem secondary to the suspects. In the end, the most interesting game is always trying to figure out who did it. However, we want Leach to have a prominent role. It would be interesting to see his investigative process, focusing on his intuition to unravel the mystery and how it leads him to the truth.

5. A Memorable Villain

We won’t say who the culprit is, but Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero features a killer with one of Christie’s most studied motivations. We want the series to gradually show us his — or her — more sinister side, but also to explore the motives and psychology in a profound way. Ultimately, it’s not just about the who, but also the why. A good mystery story needs a memorable villain, and we hope the show follows this premise to the letter.
Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero will hit our screens on April 16 on BritBox.
