When Fire Country introduced Morena Baccarin’s Sheriff Mickey Fox in its Season 2 backdoor pilot, fans knew CBS wasn’t just testing the waters—they were launching a franchise. Now, with Sheriff Country officially headed to our screens in the 2025–2026 season, we finally have details on who’s joining Mickey in Edgewater.
Anchored by an action-heavy yet touching premise and built around a law enforcement department as complicated as its town, the spin-off is shaping up to be a worthy addition to the Fire Country universe.
Per Deadline, Morena Baccarin returns as Mickey Fox—a no-nonsense sheriff juggling murder investigations, small-town politics, and a tangled family history. She’s Sharon Leone’s (Diane Farr) stepsister and Bode’s aunt, tying her directly into the Fire Country core.
Mickey appeared once again in Fire Country Season 3, to help build that world, which made it so that Sheriff Country feels more like a natural expansion.
Morena Baccarin leads the cast of Sheriff Country

At the center of Sheriff Country is Morena Baccarin’s Mickey Fox, who already wowed Fire Country fans in her debut. Her layered backstory—ex-con father (W. Earl Brown), rebellious daughter, and the fallout from her boss’s death—has created fertile ground for drama. Baccarin anchors the moral sophistication.
Joining her is CSI: Vegas and Friday Night Lights alum Matt Lauria as Deputy Boone. Lauria, per Variety, plays Mickey’s sharp, principled partner. A transplant from Oakland, Boone brings an outsider’s eye to Edgewater, promising chemistry and conflict in his dynamic with Mickey.
Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs, Ugly Betty) enters the picture as Mickey’s ex-husband, Travis: a fellow sheriff’s deputy. His presence, professionally and personally, adds friction as the two try to make sense of unresolved issues while solving crimes side by side.
Michele Weaver (Love Is) also joins the force as another deputy, whose role is still under wraps but set to challenge Mickey’s authority—and perhaps her loyalty. Meanwhile, W. Earl Brown reprises his role as Mickey’s father, whose criminal past looms over her persona as sheriff.
This is not the only spin-off on CBS’s radar
While Jared Padalecki‘s commanding arc as Camden Casey had fans speculating about another spin-off, co-creator Max Thieriot told Parade that the focus remains squarely on Sheriff Country. “We have so much work to do over there, in a good way,” he said, hinting that Edgewater still has plenty of untapped potential.

Tia Napolitano echoed this sentiment, saying to Cinemablend last year, “We want to expand Edgewater, and Mickey is part of Edgewater.” That expansion is already underway with Sheriff Country, offering a different lens on justice in a community where family ties and moral gray zones run deep.
While Mickey’s story is just beginning, Bode’s arc in Fire Country continues to evolve. The finale had huge shifts, personal growth, and a big loss on the horizon. CBS is betting big on this shared universe.
The backstory-laced pilot, the magnetic cast, and a setting rich in secrets all point to Sheriff Country becoming a breakout hit.
