NBC is bringing more sports and sports entertainment to its schedule with the return of the NBA and the premiere of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. The latter reunites Tracy Morgan with 30 Rock creator, star, and showrunner Tina Fey as well as 30 Rock creator Robert Carlock. The comedy series “focuses on a disgraced former football player (Morgan), who is on a mission to rehabilitate his image,” per its logline.
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins was written by Carlock and Sam Means, who also worked on 30 Rock. The series received a pilot order in March, with Daniel Radcliffe and Bobby Moynihan joining the cast soon after. Radcliffe will play Arthur Tobin, “an award-winning filmmaker who moves into Reggie’s mansion to film an immersive documentary about the former star running back.” Meanwhile, Moynihan will portray Gator, “Reggie’s loyal former teammate who has always stuck with him even when things went sideways.”

The first photos from the sports comedy series also tease Erika Alexander as a cast member. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins also stars Precious Way and Jalyn Hall. NBC has yet to release any descriptions of all their characters, but it has shared that Alexander will play Reggie’s ex-wife and agent. The show’s writers, Robert Carlock and Sam Means, executive produce with Tracy Morgan, Tina Fey, Eric Gurian, and David Miner. Director Rhys Thomas also executive produces (pilot only). The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, Little Stranger, Bevel Gears, and 3 Arts.
Though the comedy series does not have a premiere date, Deadline reports that it could have a 10-episode season debuting at midseason. Meanwhile, NBC has The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins slated to premiere alongside its other new fall series, including On Brand with Jimmy Fallon and Surviving Earth.
No matter when it airs, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins will join NBC’s comedy slate, including St. Denis Medical and Happy’s Place.
There’s also a chance that the network’s lineup will include one more sports comedy, as the cheerleading comedy Stumble is still in contention, per Variety. Stumble is described as “a mockumentary about the ridiculously high stakes competitive world of junior college cheer.” With its pilot ordered in March, NBC announced that Jenn Lyon would star as the lead in the series from Jeff and Liz Astrof. Stumble was not included in NBC’s fall lineup, and there have been no announcements about its progression since Lyon’s casting in April.

In the meantime, until there are any updates about The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins or Stumble, NBC will still keep sports fans gripped. In October, NBCUniversal will begin its 11-year agreement to present NBA and WNBA regular-season playoff basketball games. The national Monday night games will stream exclusively on Peacock, while NBC and Peacock will have national coverage of regional doubleheaders on Tuesday nights. That’s not all, either!
NBC Sports is launching Sunday Night Basketball in 2026. The program will provide three consecutive nights of national coverage of the second half of the regular season across NBC and Peacock. Meanwhile, the WNBA’s playoffs coverage will begin in Spring 2026.
Plus, NBC Sports previously shared that Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller will join its coverage as game analysts, Carmelo Anthony as a studio analyst, and Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle as play-by-play voices. As announced in December 2024, Emmy Award-winning producer Frank DiGraci will be the coordinating producer for NBC Sports’ NBA coverage. Beginning in October, NBC will cover the NBA from 8:00-11:00 EST on Tuesdays.
