We love music and have to admit that all of the stuff that Addison Rae has been coming out with has made it to our playlists. It’s not something that we expected, but if we’re being honest, the TikTok star turned Pop Princess is quite catchy. Her songs “Diet Pepsi,” “Headphones On,” “Aquamarine,” “High Fashion,” and “Fame Is a Gun” have been on repeat.
And now we have an entire album to keep our ears entertained and dancing to the music.
Addison dropped her album on Friday, June 6th. It’s got all of our favorite previously released songs, as well as new music. The entire album is a gift to the eardrums.
In April, the star had told us all via social media that the album, Addison, was coming. She captioned the Instagram post saying, “Addison. June 6th. 💐💐💐💐 Self-titled debut album!!!! I love the entirety of this project with all of me. A mirror. A deep desperation and desire to understand myself better. A true collection of my proudest work yet. My dream cover. My dream collaborators.”
When the album was released, she announced on her Instagram by saying, “‘Addison’ is out now and alive everywhere in the universe for you to receiveeeeeee!!! This is my most personal and intimate possession. Making music is vulnerable, energetically sensitive, electric, gratifying, challenging…… pure magic. I am unbelievably proud. I am looking up to the sky with fingers interlaced.. lucky. Everyone who was and is involved in this project is a genius. Thank you to my beloved friends and fans for sharing this moment in time with me. I love you. I hope you dance and lose yourself to the music. Feel free. Be fearless. 🎆🎇💕🪶🪞🌼🌠🪷🌙✨🌅🌌💎⚖️⛓️🔮🎀🪄☮️⚜️🍀”
The star had been excited about her debut album, saying in a previous interview, “I think I’m in the space right now where I’m just really anticipating it coming out, and I’m like trying to hit all the stops. Even like with posting and feeling like, ‘Okay, well, I really want to make sure I give this the credit and the energy that it deserves,’” she said. “I think sometimes I shy away from that because I’ll be like, ‘Well, I don’t know, I’m already putting this out. Is it going to be too much if I’m just like, all right, everybody, the album’s this many days away, like every two days. Sometimes I’ll get onto myself about that, and I’ll be like, ‘No, it deserves that.’”
And continuing, “It’s a super interesting observation, because what my base take on that, knowing a lot– well, okay, yes, I can say this, speaking the language of the artist for a long, long time. It’s a different feeling to anything else you’ve gotten in front of and promoted before. It comes from a deeper place. Do I do that to this? Because I’m like it’s so intimate and so precious that I don’t want it to feel gimmicky in that way sometimes, which it can feel like when you’re used to getting paid to promote this or whatever. Even whenever I first started TikTok, like that feeling of that. No, I think this project to me deserves that energy from me.”
And finished off with an interesting take on creating, “It deserves that aggressiveness towards getting people to open up and listen to it because then, why else? Obviously, I made it for myself and I made it for my friends and the people that around me create with me to it. I also think we want people to hear music. That’s why we create.”
We’re heading back to listening to the music. You should too!
