When you cast a movie or a television show and it involves people that we love, we pay attention. We sit and decide is we’re going to build our lives around this movie or television show. Yes, maybe it’s us getting older that we enjoy nights in. Whatever it is, do know this – we will watch Providence Falls.
It was announced that Katie Stevens, Lachlan Quarmby, and Evan Roderick will be starring in the trilogy. It is based on Jude Deveraux and Tara Sheets’ series of books.
Ahhh… Katie Stevens and Evan Roderick together? We’re definitely watching. We’re not overlooking you, Lachlan – we will get to know your acting, too. We obviously failed there.
Now, were we familiar with the source material? Nope. But we’re going to be.
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
According to Deadline, “in 1844 Ireland, Providence Falls revolves around Liam O’Conner (Quarmby), a rogue and a thief, who falls in love with Cora McLeod (Stevens), a fiery but sheltered aristocrat’s daughter, who is promised in marriage to a man she barely knows. Their plan to make a new life together in America is thwarted, and the consequences of Liam and Cora’s unlikely love ripples through time, causing everyone to relive the events of the past. Now the Angels of Destiny need Liam’s help to set things right and if he doesn’t succeed, his very soul is on the line.”
It continues, “They transport Liam to present day to help this incarnation of Cora fall in love with Finn (Roderick), the man she was destined to marry in 1844. Liam would give anything to reunite with his beloved Cora but only he retains the memories of their past together. Now a cop in Providence Falls, Oregon, Cora feels an inexplicable connection to Liam, who is introduced as her new partner. And as they tackle a big case together, Liam sees the same passion and adventurous nature in Cora that he had fallen in love with. With everyone’s lives at stake, Liam must overcome unexpected and otherworldly obstacles in his mission. Perhaps none as powerful as his own undying love for Cora.”
A period piece? YES PLEASE. We love those. We just need to know who she chooses. What are we in for?
WHY PROVIDENCE FALLS
Producer Joanna Swisher said, “Our book club, Rolling Clover Reads, is one of my favorite extensions of The Happy Place. I’m always searching for great stories to share with our community, ones I believe best represent what we stand for and our audience enjoys, and I think The Providence Falls trilogy is the perfect story for us to launch under our new banner.
She continued, “ I discovered the material while filming in the magical and historic hills of Ireland for Hallmark, and I was instantly swept up in the romance. The idea of soulmates finding each other again and again across time. I’ve always loved the notion that love can be eternal, and these books offered the perfect backdrop for a sweeping, epic love story , and I believe the Hallmark audience will fall in love with Providence Falls just as I did.”
Produced by Reckless Pictures in association with JoAnna Garcia Swisher’s Rolling Clover Production, Treehouse Media, and Basset Hound Distribution.
The series will be part of The Hallmark Channel’s Summer Nights event. It is set to air August 2 at 8 pm ET/PT.
