Someone needs to roll the tape on Love Island USA Season 7 episode 18. Because the elimination of Hannah makes absolutely no sense as a viewer. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t really care that much for Hannah. But even I can admit, she’s given herself over to the process of this show and had a real connection with Pepe.
Throughout her season on Love Island USA Season 7, Hannah has had her ups and downs. She had her messy but real connection with Charlie. And he was eliminated, even though they had turned a corner in their experience together and looked like they were about to embark on something that worked for both of them. But Charlie still got eliminated.
Then you had Hannah and Pepe. After the elimination of Charlie, it was hard for Hannah to try something else with someone new. But Hannah did it. She gave herself into the experience and the connection with Pepe blossomed into something real. It wasn’t full of drama, they both lit up while they were with each other, and it seemed like something steady and sweet.

In Love Island USA Season 7 Episode 18, both Hannah and Pepe were up for elimination based on the U.S. audience vote. But the final vote, the one that decided who goes home or not, was decided by the safe Islanders. And while they decided to save Pepe and send Jeremiah home, which is a whole other conversation we need to have, Hannah was eliminated.
AND IT MAKES NO SENSE.
If we roll back the tape to what Chelley said, her exact words were, “So we decided to go with someone who’s really taken the full experience into consideration and really tried to put themselves out there. So the girl we want to dump is: Hannah.” And again, it makes no sense, especially because they just said she’s taken this experience seriously.
When it comes down to the elimination on Love Island USA Season 7 Episode 18, Iris or Amaya should have been eliminated.

As a viewer, I thought they were going to pick Iris because she was the new girl and didn’t have a strong bond to the other women like Hannah did. And if the Islanders were going to make any hard decision, it would be to send Amaya home. She’s my favorite Islander, btw. And that’s even after the mess with Ace and Chelley in Season 7 Episode 8. But Amaya has no connections on the island and Austin was continuously shown talking about how she was too intense.
But somehow they still chose Hannah…
Love Island USA Season 7 Episode 18 has ultimately left me side eyeing the girls on the show. What aren’t we seeing? What moments are missing that led to the girls crying less than when Charlie got eliminated? Also, why were none of them comforting her besides Amaya? Even later on when they were in the dressing room, Hannah looked blindsided and visibly uncomfortable to be around these people that called “the light of this place” and then eliminated her.

And I’m not convinced that the little photo booth moment was the Islanders idea. Production is there, clear and present. And they probably told them to do this moment, despite how emotional Hannah was. And I especially believe that this was a production idea because Jeremiah wouldn’t care to take a photo with Ace, the person he knows ultimately moved the needle to get him eliminated. This was a production ask.
Then there’s the goodbye that the Love Island USA official account posted. For all the other girls saying that they loved Hannah, Amaya is the only one who sent Hannah a message on the Cely Phone. Amaya being the ultimate girls girl, left Hannah a sweet message before Pepe popped up and made Hannah cry. These were the closest people to Hannah in the villa.
Not Shelly, Olandria, Cierra, or Huda. Amaya and Pepe were.
This episode makes me look back at everything I’ve seen with a skeptical eye. Hannah wasn’t as close to the other girls as they made it out to be because if they were, they would have saved her. Because this wasn’t a decision made on who had the best connections in the villa. This was a popularity test and unfortunately someone with zero drama was the ultimate pick to get booted.
What about Huda?
Some people on social media are suggesting that Hannah’s elimination was the evil machinations of Huda trying to get to Pepe because the new bombshell isn’t interested in her. I don’t buy it. Huda’s not as skilled as Ace at getting people on her side. And Pepe hasn’t looked at Huda once since the last conversation that they had. He was about the Hannah life and looking to explore something real together with her.Ultimately, here’s hoping Love Island USA Aftersun can give us some answers as to what came into this decision because I can’t wrap my head around this no matter how much I try. And again, I don’t even like Hannah like that. But this makes no sense.
New episodes of Love Island air every day besides Wednesday. And Saturdays are dedicated to Love Island Aftersun.
