For many readers, the New Adult Romance genre is incredibly popular. We’re not surprised that films and TV shows are frequently adapted from books, such as After, The Summer I Turned Pretty, and Forever, to name a few. Up next is Easy, based on the New Adult Romance novel written by Tammara Webber.

Published in 2012, Easy tells the story of Jacqueline, who follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, and the last thing she expects is a breakup. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she’s single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory. After a traumatic event, she’s rescued by Lucas, a young guy who becomes an unexpected source of strength for her.
According to Deadline, Ransom Canyon star Lizzy Greene and House of the Dragon Star Harry Collett have been cast as Jacqueline and Lucas. The film, which is directed by Luke Eve, has wrapped principal photography in Malta. This news is exciting to me for a lot of reasons. Easy, which was self-published by Webber in 2012, is one of my favorite books.
I read it in 2014, right around the time that indie publishing was getting its footing. It destroyed me emotionally in the best way. The book, which was optioned many years ago, has resonated with a lot of readers. Knowing a film adaptation is on the way is giving me motivation to pick it back up again. Also, I love the casting choices—especially Collett as Lucas. If you’ve seen House of the Dragon, you know he’s got that broody tortured thing down. I can’t wait to see how both he and Greene bring the characters to life.
Author Tammara Webber is thrilled about the actors chosen to bring her characters to life.
From what Webber has said, they will not disappoint. “I’m thrilled to have Lizzy and Harry take my lead characters from page to screen under Luke’s skilled guidance and vision. What a spectacular team.” We are also pleased to know that Author Anna Todd is involved in this project. She’s producing alongside Ryan Hamilton (Hotel Mumbai, Possessor), Addam Bramich (Poker Face, Ice Fall, Shiver), and Volodymyr Artemenko (A Working Man, Wife and Dog, Shiver).
Right now, we don’t have any more information on the adaptation of Easy, but this is a good place to start. And we’ll be keeping our eyes open for more news that comes our way.
For now, here are some photos shared by Harry of him and Lizzy in character. Feel free to swoon over them with us.
