Bridgerton‘s Nicola Coughlan is keeping booked and busy. Her latest role announcement is for Channel 4’s anthology series I Am.
The series explores “the experiences of women in personal and emotional moments.” It premiered in 2019 with three episodes and so far has had 3 seasons. With each episode being a self-contained story about one woman, it allowed the series to bring in a lot of different talent like Kate Winslet, Gemma Chan, Suranne Jones, and Letitia Wright. Winslet’s episode in particular, “I Am Ruth,” earned her a 2023 win at the BAFTA’s for Leading Actress.
At the moment we don’t know what Coughlan’s episode in I Am will be about. But it will be a contained story with her leading the charge for the episode “I Am Helen.” She will also be starring alongside Peaky Blinders Joe Cole. And as for her reaction to be cast, she feels extremely honored according to Deadline.
Coughlan said, “It’s an absolute honour to be part of telling the next I Am… story alongside Dominic Savage — a singular talent and a storyteller deeply committed to exploring the breadth of the female experience. To follow in the footsteps of the brilliant women who’ve collaborated with him on this series feels truly surreal, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be embarking on this journey.”
As for her other upcoming roles, Coughlan is expected to return for Bridgerton Season 4. The season is going to focus on Benedict Bridgerton’s love story with Sophie Baek. But like other seasons of the show, couples from previous seasons do make a return. And her Penelope and Colin Bridgerton just had a season focus on them with Season 3.
Coughlan is also starring in The Magic Faraway Tree. The film is in post-production and tells the story of “a modern family relocates to the countryside where the children discover a magical tree with eccentric residents. They’re transported to fantastical lands, rekindling their family bond through adventures.” It’s expected to release December 19, 2025 according to IMDb.
She’s also set to do some voice-acting in the 2026 Sony movie GOAT. That animated feature tells the story of “a determined undersized goat defies expectations by joining an elite team in roarball – a dangerous sport where animals compete on hazardous, ever-changing courts. With his diverse teammates, he must prove he belongs in the fierce League.”
