Eternity. Lordy, that seems like forever (we know it is…), and committing to something for forever seems really hard. Maybe it’s because this writer has commitment issues, or maybe I am not a people person. Let’s go with both.
A movie starring Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner is coming out, and it is entitled Eternity. Eternity is a dirty word, and no, not kidding about that. Someone is trying to challenge me. I get it.
The movie is about the afterlife, where you have to decide who you want to spend Eternity with. Joan (Olsen) has to choose between her husband (Teller) and her first love (Turner). Her first love has passed and has been waiting years for her to arrive. But how do you make a choice that seems impossible?

And make that choice in a week? Please, no. Can’t even decide what I want to wear, that takes a lot of time.
We can honestly think of a million things we’d rather do than choose from that. Just spitballing here, but some of them include – a root canal, ride a horse bareback, walk across the country from coast to coast, spend days trying to find our way out of an escape room, get waxed…. the list goes on and on. Love is complicated enough. We don’t want to take that to the afterlife with us.
The movie is set to hit theaters in November, but it will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival first.
The script for the movie was originally on The Blacklist, and then David Freyne (he also directs) co-wrote alongside Pat Cunnane. So many people go into making a script good. As do so many people go into making a movie good, cast and crew. In addition to Olsen, Turner, and Teller, Eternity also stars John Early, Olga Merediz, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
Eternity is being released by A24 (they make great movies), and so I, for one, am willing to be challenged by Eternity.
