The sequel to 2003 classic movie Freaky Friday is here with Freakier Friday. And with it comes another body swap adventure for the ages that reminds us why we love these kinds of movies. Because it isn’t so much the hijinxs of it all. It’s about how the actors lose themselves in their new roles and the lessons they learn along the way. So if you’re looking for some more body swap movies to watch after checking out Freakier Friday, we’ve got you covered!
1. Wish Upon a Star (1996)
Why You Should Watch: This Disney Channel classic laid the groundwork for Freaky Friday. Its comedy-drama focused on a pair of sisters with assumptions of each other, who figured out that perception isn’t reality. Also, worth a watch just for the 90s fashion and Katherine Heighl in that purple number. Trust us.
Official synopsis: In this cult classic, younger sister Hayley Wheaton (Danielle Harris) wishes to switch places with her popular older sister Alexia (Katherine Heigl) and the two bickering siblings awaken to find the wish has come true.
Wish Upon a Star is available to stream on Prime Video.
2. 13 Going on 30 (2004)
Why You Should Watch: Jennifer Garner’s 13 Going on 30 is a classic because its such a fun rewatch. Garner needs to be in more high-concept comedies and the person running the costume department needs to come along with her. Together they created iconic looks and moments.
Official synopsis: A delightful be-careful-what-you-wish-for romantic comedy starring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. On the eve of her 13th birthday, all Jenna Rink wants is to be pretty and popular. After a humiliating experience with the coolest boy in school, Jenna makes a desperate wish for a new life. Miraculously, her wish comes true, but with one catch… it’s 17 years later and she’s a 13-year-old trapped inside her 30-year-old body.
13 Going on 30 is available to stream for free on Kanopy and Hoopla.
3. Face/Off (1997)
Why You Should Watch: Some might not consider Face/Off a body swap movie but lives are switched because of how they look. I consider that enough to end up on this list. And it’s a classic for Nicolas Cage, one of the best actors of the modern age. I said, what I said.
Official synopsis: As a result of a new medical technique, an agent is able to surgically take on the identical appearance of a criminal in order to take down his terrorist organization.
Face/Off is available to stream for free on Hoopla.

4. The Emperor’s New Groove (2000)
Why You Should Watch: The Emperor’s New Groove has given us so many meme-worthy moments that it has to be on this list. Also, the voice acting by David Spade is some of the best in Disney animation. 10 out of 10.
Official synopsis: A selfish emperor learns a lesson in humility when he is turned into a llama.
The Emperor’s New Groove is available to stream on Disney+.
5. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Why You Should Watch: While this isn’t the Robin Williams classic, it’s got a special place in my heart for how funny it is. That humor is mainly attributed to Jack Black. He took this role so seriously. No embarrassment. No toxic masculinity. This was his time to shine and he gave it his all.
Official synopsis: When four high-school kids discover an old video game console of a game they’ve never heard of, Jumanji, they are suddenly and inexplicably drawn into the game’s jungle setting, where they quickly discover that you don’t just play Jumanji — you must survive it.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is available on FX Now.
6. Freaky (2020)
Why You Should Watch: Kathryn Newton is such an underrated actor. And like other actors on this list, she embodies her body swapped character so well that she disappears into it. Vince Vaughn is there too, I guess.
Official synopsis: A teen magically swaps bodies with a serial killer in this entertaining, genre-bending horror comedy.
Freaky is available to stream on Prime Video.
MORE: Here are six Hallmark Channel movies we watch for emotional support!
7. The Hot Chick (2002)
Why You Should Watch: Before Mean Girls there was Rachel McAdams in The Hot Chick. Her mean girl was what Regina George became. And she was only matched by Rob Schneider’s version of her character Jessica when their bodies were swapped. Was the movie perfect? Absolutely not. But the way that Schneider absolutely gave himself to the role was iconic.
Official synopsis: A curse turns the hottest, most popular (and meanest) girl on a high-school campus into Rob Schneider in this hilarious comedy.
The Hot Chick is available to stream on Hulu.
8. 17 Again (2009)
Why You Should Watch: Zac Efron with the 2000’s hair from High School Musical. That’s enough for this movie to end up on this body swap list.
Official synopsis: Nearing a midlife crisi, Mike wishes he could have a do-over in life — and that’s exactly what he gets when he wakes up to find he’s 17 again.
17 Again is available to stream on Netflix.
9. The Skeleton Key (2005)
Why You Should Watch: The fact that this movie is on this list gives away a lot of the plot. But this movie is 20 years old and still with worth watching for how spooky and unsettling this movie is.
Official synopsis: A young and skeptical nurse will find herself surrounded by the mystery of a dark past and the effects of an old magic.
The Skeleton Key is available to stream on STARZ.
