Mondays aren’t always kind, but this Monday is turning out to be a good one. When you wake up to the news that the long-anticipated Greta Gerwig version of the Narnia movies – well, they are filming.
And that makes us happy.
The movies were filming this past weekend in the city of London near Cornhill and the Royal Exchange. The primary filming location will be at Shepperton Studios in Surrey.
The first movie will be based on The Magician’s Nephew, which was the sixth book published in The Chronicles of Narnia series, but is the first chronologically. The cast includes Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig, and Carey Mulligan. While Meryl Streep is rumored to have a role also, we’re going to wait until that is confirmed.
The Magician’s Nephew follows two kids who accidentally release the White Witch on the streets of London. The set is very 1950s, and we’re loving this change. In Greta we trust.
The Magician’s Nephew is actually a prequel to The Lion, the Witch, & Wardrobe. It sets up how Narnia came to be. It may sound odd to start with book six in the series, but it does make sense for that reason.
Are you excited for more Narnia movies? We definitely are!
