Fate. I do get that it is a thing, and some people believe in it more than others. I am not a big fan of the thought, but that’s because I want to believe that I have some control over my life. I know it doesn’t always happen, though – there are bigger things out there than what we know. For Cora and Liam, fate is trying to pull them apart, but sometimes your heart is going to try to make choices for you.
I wasn’t sure what I expected from Providence Falls and how they were going to wrap up the movies. I just knew that at the end of the day, there was so much that could be done with this franchise.
And overall, I think they did it right.
ACCIDENT
Cora, I am sad for you being in the hospital, but I also believe that if anyone can make it through hard things, you can. Cora is supposed to be achieving her true potential and destiny – I know. But the thing is, there are a lot of things that have to come together for her to get to where fate tells her that she needs to go.
Her devotion to her job – I get it. We all have things that we’re passionate about and things we want to do good at. Is it just being a cop that she wants to be?
The situation at Magnus’ with her almost drowning – it was a lot. But it’s going to change everything. People are more cautious around her, and she’s more cautious around people. There is something inside her that wants answers.

Liam is waiting for her – he wanted to visit her. I actually feel for him because he can’t tell her the truth. Would she even understand if he did? The truth is, I do think that she would if she allowed herself to tell Liam the truth. Telling him about her dreams and what she’s facing, he would understand.
BACK TO WORK
Cora’s back to work, and Liam and she are avoiding each other. The chief tells Liam to figure it out. Whatever happens next, these two are going to have to learn to get past their feelings. The thing about feelings, though, unless you are ready to face them, it doesn’t matter.
Cora and Liam are in charge of interrogating Magnus. Magnus and Bael are determined to undermine Cora, and are saying that Cora was upset over a breakup. They played the weak, emotional woman card when that is the last thing that she is.
Bael is the absolute worst, and so his turning this all around and gaslighting Cora and Liam is gross. But am I surprised? No. He’s gotta win somehow and is willing to do whatever it takes to do just that. Liam isn’t going to stand by and just take it, so he lets it be known – he’s not going to back down.
What I did love was that at the end of the day, we learned a lot about the type of man that Liam is. He’s not going to just stand by while Cora is told some BS about being a woman scorned
IRELAND
Flashbacks are some of my favorite things in movies like this one. Even the Department of Destiny says that history has a way of repeating itself.
But it’s the flashbacks that make you really fall for and cheer on Cora and Liam. Cora doesn’t (at first) understand that the flashbacks are her remembering a past life, but from the first movie, I have felt like she recognized that it was more.
The dreams are vivid; way too vivid to just be a dream.
Was I shocked that when she asked Liam and really found out what was happening, she believed it? Then again, it seems that with the Department of Destiny popping in all the time, what other choice did she have?
However, if I were her, I wouldn’t have wanted to find out because then I would be aware of an expiration date. I don’t like that. I don’t want to know, and yes, that’s in part because of anxiety, but also it’s in part because I think it would make me stop living.
Liam is a charmer, and I do love that about him. I would follow him anywhere. When he’s bargaining for more time on earth and seeing things through, I knew that he had to have had a bigger plan.
MAGNUS, BAEL, AND PPL SUCK
The name Magnus will always be on par with the name Chad. It isn’t a good look.
Magnus isn’t working for Bael, but it sure feels like he is. Magnus is just an insecure man who loves messing with Liam. He’s got a fascination with Cora, and it shows. What irritates me, though, is that because the gang hasn’t reported the money missing, Magnus is going to get away with stealing the money.

Chief Boyd made Cora and Liam let Magnus go, and that infuriated me. Why is that because he’s painting Cora in a bad light? Does it mean there is no case? It makes me think that there is something fishy with Boyd.
It is confirmed for me with flashbacks. I do believe that Boyd is the reason that Cora and Liam were being chased in the 1800s. He didn’t want to have to give up the money that he got from selling the things that Liam had stolen.
Boyd is a money-hungry troll.
Providence Falls has excelled in making the viewer question intentions. The intentions of all of the people that it’s focused on, and the ones that are just casual people in the background. As much as I do love that, it’s also been frustrating because I am a person who wants all the answers.
And yet, I enjoy a movie that has me screaming at the television and that gets me feeling emotions.
Isn’t that what entertainment is supposed to do?
SUZETTE
I have to admit that I didn’t see Suzette being the one that was working for Bael, but she is, and therefore, one must wonder… was anything with her ever real?
I do like the idea of Suzette and Finn together, because I do believe that all people deserve love. I just have a hard time with someone being a bestie and finding out that they were betraying you from the beginning. That’s a lot for anyone to take.
There is then the hard part for me to understand – why is it that she knows that she’s supposed to force Liam and Cora apart, yet keeps trying to force them together? Because to me, if she were trying to make sure that they end up together, then she was selfless and redeemable. If this is part of a game, then I hate her.
Suzette and Liam do think alike because they are both thieves. It helps them help each other. She’s willing to do whatever it takes, even flirting with Magnus, which was gross. But, it’s all of these moments that make me believe that Suzette is on the fence about what she wants to do. She could either stay on earth or go to hell.
As the movie progresses and Suzette and Finn are attracted to each other, I am rooting for that. After all, Liam and Cora don’t seem to be able to stay away from each other.
Fate is a weird thing – if you believe in it and even if you don’t. You see, we can have our whole lives planned out, but there are forces out there – ones that their decisions can change everything. While we’ve been examining Cora, Liam, and Finn’s fate, I feel like we’re missing others. Suzette is one of those.
HERE’S WHAT I COULDN’T BUY
Now, if angels are real, we should all want one like Agon. He questions fate. He questions what people say should and will be. I loved that about him and also thought he was amazing for doing just that.

What I was laughing at was that Gabriel came to Earth and was played by Brennan Penny. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Penny and think that he’s a great actor. The issue for me was that his delivery of Gabriel was so stiff that he reminded me of the teacher from Ferris Bueller’s and that took me out of the movie completely.
It honestly was the only thing that I did not like in the series, and that’s definitely hard for me to say.
Providence Falls delivered three movies that were about reincarnation, fate, love, and second chances. It was a series that delivered on timeless love stories and the possibilities that life has to offer.
Two love stories that came from one.
Two love stories that came from time.
I don’t think that anyone can be mad at that.
