There’s very little time left until High Potential returns to our screens! Morgan won us over from the first second, and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us in the new episodes. However, it’s been months since we last saw her and the rest of the team. If you need a refresher on what happened at the end of Season 1, we’ve got your back!
A Relentless Player

The season finale of High Potential Season 1 introduced a criminal who challenged Morgan like never before. David Peck, played by David Giuntoli, is a serial killer who decided to play a cat-and-mouse game with the police—and almost took down Oz. Especially with Morgan. David tests her to see if she can decipher his riddles and reach him. And Morgan didn’t disappoint him; she impressed him. And that’s a very dangerous thing.
As we saw in the last episode, David keeps an eye on Morgan and her family. So much so, that he dared to come forward. By the time Morgan connected the dots, it was too late: her family was in danger. David saw them together, knows them, knows where they go shopping, and might even know where they live. And the worst part is that he promised he’d come back to play with her.
For Morgan, her family comes first. She can handle anything that happens to her, but not to her little ones. And the way she now knows they’re in danger… it’s as if the ground beneath her feet has disappeared. So, David’s capture is a loose end for High Potential Season 2 and a priority for the team. And we can’t wait for it to be resolved!

Secrets Revealed

While this was happening, Morgan didn’t rest in her mission to find Roman. After all those years in which no one believed her, she finally has solid clues that Roman didn’t abandon them. She was finally able to break down the wall that always existed between her and Ava. Finally, Ava see her father as more than just the man who left them. So now she’s not going to give up, not when she’s closer than ever.
But continuing to dig deeper into Roman means dealing with Gio again. He’s a criminal and untrustworthy, but he’s all Morgan has. However, in the season finale, Morgan realized she’s not alone in this. Up until that point, Selena had helped her, but Morgan didn’t dare ask them for anything more. This was her business. But Karadec makes Morgan see that they’re partners, and her business is his business too.
So, Karadec makes Morgan promise to trust him with this. He’ll take charge of dealing with Gio and finding out what he knows about what happened with Roman. At first, Morgan is hesitant. She hasn’t felt in control of this for a long time, and now that she does, it’s hard for her to give up that control. But she trusts Karadec with everything she has, so she finally agrees.
And Karadec doesn’t let her down. He manages to find out that Roman is alive. So, needless to say, the season finale of High Potential left us speechless! Now Season 2 has the task of not only showing us the reactions of Morgan, Ava, and the rest of the family, but also filling in the blanks while telling us why and how Roman can be alive, aside from where he’s been all these years.

Relationships on the Run

Beyond all the intrigue, the High Potential season finale made significant progress in Morgan’s love life. While Morgan and Karadec spent the entire season building trust, learning to work together, and showing us some clues that their relationship goes far beyond the professional, the season finale reminded us that Morgan actually has a boyfriend, Tom. They met at the police station, as he was working as a cleaner while finishing his medical studies.
Tom and Morgan began dating, and when they’d found their groove, Tom had to leave for San Diego to complete his residency. The relationship continued but cooled off a bit. However, in the High Potential season finale, Tom returned…at the worst possible time. When he showed up, Morgan and Karadec were dancing. He was speechless at the sight of her. And the way he looked at her, the way he touched her and held her waist, the way he spoke to her only foreshadowed that this dance could be the beginning of something more. Karadec was opening up to her like never before.
But then Karadec saw Tom and went back to being his usual closed-off, somewhat cold self. However, what happened made it clear that something changed between him and Morgan. Now, High Potential Season 2 must address what’s going to happen between Morgan and Tom and what might happen between her and Karadec. If you ask us, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that Morgan and Tom break up once and for all because their relationship isn’t going anywhere. And, of course, we’re in on whatever happens between Morgan and Karadec.
In any case, there’s not much left to find out what happens next!
High Potential Season 2 will premiere on September 16, 2025 on ABC.
