Murray Hill may not be my favorite neighborhood in New York, but I do get the allure of it when you come here. It’s a great place to start out in, to experience what New York has to offer. And boy, does New York have a lot to offer.
Mindy Kaling knows the Murray Hill neighborhood – she knows New York. The actress/writer/producer sold a show about the Murray Hill neighborhood to Hulu in April of 2024. Now that show has been cast and it looks to be shaping up to be a good one.
The show, Not Suitable For Work, has cast its five leads. Ella Hunt (Saturday Night), Avantika (Mean Girls, The Sex Lives of College Girls), Will Angus (Prom Dates), Jack Martin (La Brea) and Nicholas Duvernay (The White Lotus) will be leading the show.
The show features five work-obsessed twentysomethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill.
Hunt will play AJ Pascarelli, a driven workaholic in the financial sector. She is a first-year analyst at the most prestigious investment bank in New York. Trust me when I say she will never have time. I know this because I have friends who are analysts, and I have to book on their calendar months in advance.
Avantika will play Abhinaya “Abby” Chilukuri. She’s a fashion-obsessed, savvy assistant to a demanding celebrity stylist. Again, a job that will give you no time and a lot of anxiety. I can’t wait to see the fashion.
There has to be a finance bro in the cast of characters, or you’ll not be doing New York justice. Just don’t forget the Patagonia vests. Angus will play Davis Beau Bradley Barrett III, a “high-energy finance bro, but underneath his fratty exterior, Davis wants to love and be loved.”
Martin will play Josh Teitelbaum. A born and raised New Yorker, who loves to tell you that. He is a smart, idealistic, and occasionally sanctimonious New Yorker – we’re picturing Next Gen NYC type of vibe.
Duvernay will play Kel Washington. No,w a lot of people come to New York for its prestigious hospitals, and he’s one of them. Described as “a charming, slightly anxious medical student struggling to ace his exams while plotting his big break as an actor.”
With such a great cast, the city as its backdrop, and the chaos that goes with it – I am sat. If there is one person who can capture Manhattan and the competitiveness of it, I think Kaling is it. What do you think?
