Wicked: For Good is still more than a month away from being released in theaters, but we couldn’t be happier about the new content that Universal shared in the latest teaser for the film! The look included clips of classic events like Dorothy and her friends meeting the Wizard and Glinda descending into Muchkinland by bubble. But certain parts of the Wicked: For Good teaser featured new moments that stood out amongst the rest.
Glinda and Fiyero Discuss Elphaba in Wicked: For Good Teaser Trailer

The newest teaser trailer for Wicked: For Good includes an intimate scene between Glinda and Fiyero. The two are dressed to impress, addressing Oz as “Glinda the Good” and “Captain of the Guard.” In the public eye, the two seem picture-perfect. Fiyero offers Glinda his hand while she exits her bubble before an adoring public. But, in a more private moment, the two speak softly to just each other.
Fiyero tells Glinda, “You can’t resist this,” in a tone that sounds slightly accusatory and confrontational but ultimately civil. Glinda responds, “Who could?” with a somewhat pained facial expression. Fiyero answers rhetorically, “You know who could,” stating it in an obvious manner. Though no name is mentioned, both know Elphaba is the one referenced in Fiyero’s answer.
It’s not clear whether the scene will be in the movie in the same way as its source material, the stage musical. The dialogue, however, is straight from the Wicked Broadway musical.
Glinda and Fiyero have the discussion in the middle of the “Thank Goodness” number that opens up the second act. The two have, to Fiyero’s surprise, just gotten engaged and are announcing and celebrating the event with the adoring Ozian public. Out of the public eye, Fiyero expresses his frustration with the performance aspect of it all. But that’s what Glinda enjoys. She likes being beloved by the public and the positivity she can bring them. As much as the scene serves as a way to highlight the contrast between Glinda and Fiyero, it also acts as a moment for them to bond over how they miss Elphaba.
Pink Goes Good with Up Against Green

Wicked: Part One highlighted how the bubbly, pink-loving Galinda Upland befriends the outspoken, misunderstood green girl Elphaba Thropp. Wicked: For Good, however, explicitly pits the two witches against each other. The Wicked: For Good teaser trailer includes a brief look at the propagandistic posters on public display in Muchkinland.
One poster is of a sensationalized Elphaba labeled as “wicked,” remaining consistent with Madame Morrible’s descriptor from the end of Wicked. The Wicked Witch of the West poster is no surprise. A different version was shown in Wicked: Part One. The poster in the Wicked: For Good trailer is more dehumanizing, though. It simply says “The Wicked.” By leaving out Elphaba’s name, the poster takes away personal details that made Elphaba into the person she was. That way, she can be nothing more than a villain.
Hanging directly across the Elphaba poster is one of Glinda the Good. It’s a powerful display because it visually puts the two women against each other. There was never any question that Oz was trying to make Elphaba a villain. But the Glinda poster makes it even clearer that she is part of Oz’s propaganda. They want to make it obvious that Glinda and her goodness not only represent Oz but are the contrast to Elphaba and her wickedness. Having Glinda make public decrees is one way to do that. Having a poster of her, however, is a more constant reminder of it.
Putting the “Good” in Wicked: For Good

The Wicked: For Good teaser trailer closes out with a powerful message from Elphaba. She says, “We can’t let ‘good’ be just a word. It has to mean something.” It starts as the audio from the clip, where Elphaba is talking to Glinda. Then, it transitions to a voiceover overlaying a clip of Glinda in her classic pink bubble dress, looking at her bubble wand.
The full context of the message isn’t clear, but it’s set up as a lesson that Elphaba is trying to teach Glinda. It wouldn’t be surprising if this comes from one of the last scenes of the movie — specifically the final moment Elphaba and Glinda share. In the Wicked stage musical, the two witches have a heart-to-heart conversation full of apologies and understanding. This then leads to their heartwarming and emotional “For Good” duet, which is where the film’s title comes from.
Wicked: For Good is in theaters on Nov. 21.
