Meh. Yes, we said it – meh. More casting was announced for CIA, and we have to admit we’re on the fence. When you launch a series and you have Tom Ellis as the lead, we’re definitely watching. Ellis as a CIA agent? Well, we see it. Nick Gehlfuss and Michael Michele, not so much.
What makes sense is that both Nick Gehlfuss and Michael Michele have previously been part of a Wolf Entertainment show. It feels sometimes as though Wolf Entertainment takes The CW approach – keep your actors close. We’re not complaining, though.
CIA is about “two unlikely partners – a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (Ellis), and a by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent (Gehlfuss) who believes in the rule of law. When this odd couple are assigned to work out of CIA’s New York Station, they must learn to work together to investigate cases and criminals posing threats on U.S. soil, finding that their differences may actually be their strength.”
While we’re not positive who Michele will play, the rumor is that she’s the head of the CIA’s New York Station.
We’re not sure what we’re expecting, but we’re definitely going to watch. It was originally set to premiere in the fall, but after a showrunner change, it is now set for a midseason premiere.
