Weddings. Sometimes they are fun and sometimes they are a pain in the backside. So yes, we prefer watching them in the movies or on television. Then we don’t have to be at one and we save a lot of money. A movie that we will watch that is about weddings – Cheap AF. But we’re watching because of the cast.
You know we love a good cast.
Arden Cho and Margaret Cho had already been cast, but some additions have been added and they are familiar names. Katherine McNamara and Alberto Rosende, as well as Josh Plasse and Toan Le have also joined the cast. The movie is currently filming in Seattle.
An Indie Rom-Com is always a good time. The movie is about, “Carol, a money-saving influencer (Arden Cho) seeking her big break, who risks losing her wedding and relationships when she goes all out to win Wedding Magazine’s “Best Wedding on a Budget” social media competition.”
This sounds both fun and exciting, but also a hot mess. Why? Because you put Brides in the position to win anything, they are coming for it and will knock anyone out of their way.
The movie was written and directed by Roy Hsu. In a statement he said, “Cheap AF is more than just an AAPI story, it’s a story that showcases the American ‘melting pot,’ and each of these actors bring such unique strengths and experiences to their roles to help us make our story even more universal. At its core, the film grapples with feeling like you don’t belong, told through an AAPI character’s journey. While the story is autobiographical and sometimes hits on themes that are hard even for me, by wrapping the story in romance and comedy, we’re creating something in which everyone can see a part of their own reflection.”
We are excited for the prospect of what this movie will be. What do you think? Is thi a movie that you want to watch?
