For a person who doesn’t do sports (me), no part of me doesn’t love the television show Running Point on Netflix. I know, it’s about basketball, and if you know me, I treat sports like a disease or an affliction.
But Kate Hudson in Running Point – I am willing to shut my mouth and give more sports a chance.
So yes, I was a little excited to find out that several recurring roles were filled. This makes me excited because I want to see how they fit in.
Dynamics are important. That’s part of the reason we’re excited that Justin Theroux and Uche Agada will return and have been promoted to series regulars.
See who has been added to the cast below –
- Robert Townsend (The Bear, Before) plays “Norm Stinson” – An excellent (and grouchy) veteran basketball coach who knows how to get the best out of his teams, but not always how to communicate.
- Ken Marino (The Residence, The Other Two) plays “Al Fleischman” – The self-appointed “toilet king of Orange County” who wants better courtside seats to the Los Angeles Waves.
- Tommy Dewey (Casual, Saturday Night) plays “Magnus” – The general manager of the Toronto Trappers.
- Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever, Fargo) plays “Aruna” – The Los Angeles Waves’ incredibly blunt star accountant who can finagle her way around any number of financial hurdles.
- Jake Picking (Top Gun: Maverick, Hollywood) plays “Tommy White” – The Los Angeles Waves’ new pretty-boy star point guard.
- Blake Anderson (Workaholics, Game Over, Man!) plays “Leroy” – Cam’s wild, sober companion.
- Duby Maduegbunam (Caught Up, Sistas) plays “Benson” – The newest basketball player on the Los Angeles Waves.
- Aliyah Turner (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) plays “Zoé Debay” -A beautiful and confident former child star who’s now on the verge of becoming an A-list actress.
In addition to Kate Hudson, Justin Theroux and Uche Agada, series regulars that are returning are Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks and Toby Sandeman.
There are also recurring cast members who are returning. Those include Max Greenfield, Jay Ellis, Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes and Justin Hurtt-Dunkley.
If you haven’t watched Season 1 of the show, you definitely should. Season 1 was about “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) is appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job.”
We can’t wait to hear more about when the show returns. We miss it. Do you?
