When it comes to Ransom Canyon, there is not a character that I don’t feel a certain way about. Some of them I really love, and some – no thank you. Now, I do know that these characters are played by real people, and just because I didn’t like their characters, it doesn’t mean I am not sad to see them go.
Because I am.
However, when I think about it, it does make sense that two of the characters are not returning as part of the series regulars cast. Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner, who starred as Davis and Reid Collins, father and son. The Collin men caused a lot of issues and told a lot of lies.
Macken played Davis Collins. He is Staten Kirkland’s ex-brother-in-law and the owner of the Bar W Ranch. Davis, though Ivy League educated, is one of the dumbest men I have ever seen on television. He tries to manipulate everything and is so jealous of Staten that it makes me want to gag. The two differ on selling their land, and Collins is willing to do whatever it takes to get Kirkland’s land from him. Not to mention Collins moves in on taking the woman that Staten is in love with. He’s gross. I hated him. But here we are.
Liner played Reid Collins. He is a cocky and confident jock at the local high school. He’s Collins’s only child and Statens’s nephew. He’s got a secret that is quite huge and unravels in season one of the show. With as much as he’s hiding, you would think that he wouldn’t be reckless. But he is just that. He’s living life to the fullest, while upset and devastated over his cousin dying; yes. But he also knows more about it than he cares to share. And there we go again with he’s just gross.
Ransom Canyon is Netflix’s answer to combining Virgin River and Yellowstone together, with the drama being more about love than anything else. At least that
Who knows what Season 2 will be like without them, but it’s definitely something that we’ll be watching.
