So many things happen online and there are a lot of people that create fake accounts. You really never know who you are talking to and if the person is the person that they say they are on the other end.
It’s part of the reason that it’s important to pay attention. Listen to what public relations people, accredited accounts, and the celebrities themselves tell you. Hallmark takes imposter accounts seriously and its stars want you to know to remain vigilant.
The stars of Hallmark Channel have long been vigilant and protective of their fans. Andrew Walker, B.J. Britt, Nikki DeLoach, Paul Campbell, Tamera Mowry-Housley, and Tyler Hynes all partnered with the network to talk to fans about not communicating with fake accounts.
“We care deeply about our fans. And we have something very important to tell you,” the video starts.
“There’s a growing industry-wide problem across social media. Fake accounts are impersonating actors, reaching out to fans directly, with misleading messages. It’s very important that you know, we will never contact you personally to ask for financial help, donations, or to meet up. If you receive a message like this, it’s a scam.”
And then at the end the video, “Please block the account and report it to the social media platform immediately. Stay safe, stay connected, and thank you.”
