It’s almost annoying to get such a chipper title for NCIS: Origins Season 2, Episode 1 as ‘The Funky Bunch.’ We’re still here trying to figure out if we have to mourn Lala or if the entire season will be a long walk towards what might be the thing that actually forces her out of Gibbs’ life.
That’s the thing about knowing the ending, or at least the future, you’re always trying to make the story fit what you know, or think you know.
But no, the title almost sounds… fun. Like someone was really into Marky Mark (Randy, it’s just gotta be Randy. Nothing else fits), and happy about it. So, does that mean Lala is actually alive? Or do we get a big time jump, and Marky Mark is just a symptom of this team trying to pick up the pieces? We don’t know. But we really can’t wait to find out.
The finale felt… ominous. We said goodbye. We had to; that was the only way we were going to survive the hiatus. But now? Now we’re ready to welcome even a tiny bit of hope.
