The Wells Foundation team, especially Molly, learns that they can’t escape their problems in Loot Season 3’s two-episode premiere. The vehicle to kickstart that journey just so happens to be a private jet (or a PJ) that has a fake plane crash. Loot successfully makes the case for spending an entire episode on an island with one incredible guest star – Henry Winkler. His delivery of “Oh, who can tell? I measure time in orgasms now” is incredible on its own.
Every joke in Loot Season 3, Episode 1, “Bye-Bye Mode,” written by Emily Spivey & Maya Rudolph, is better than the last. Look no further than Gerald Canning’s island being named Vajin for proof. This comedy knows how to make its jokes serve a greater purpose when necessary, too. That island is the confrontation that Molly needs to know what she wants. It’s such an absurd concept that it shouldn’t work, but it does because Loot knows how to handle it.

New Eras (and Backstories) Loading…
Loot knows how to marry humor and heart, which is why it’s sweet to see the effort that Nicholas puts into keeping up the stranded island of it all for Molly. The bit shows how much he cares. It folds wonderfully into him realizing how Molly and Arthur’s relationship impacts him and his place in Molly’s life. Loot Season 3, Episode 2, “Would Hit,” written by Luke Del Tredici and also directed by Claire Scanlon, navigates that conflict so well. It’s funny – Joel Kim Booster’s performance when Nicholas tries to intimidate Arthur! It’s also such a great spot to find him at the start of a season because breaking up that relationship that is his life’s work opens Nicholas up to so much more. Maybe that acting job?
“Would Hit” proves that Loot is interested in getting to know these characters better, which makes leaving Rhonda on the island bittersweet. She never really gets a chance in the show’s previous seasons, and “Bye-Bye Mode” suggests that won’t change. Then again, maybe there’s an opportunity to learn anything about Ainsley this season. Alternatively, it is a bit shocking to learn that Sofia and Isaac have been together for nine months.
Hopefully, this season will spend even more time with them because there aren’t enough of them in Season 2. On the other hand, it’s exciting to meet Sofia’s sister, Destiny (X Mayo!). That dynamic brings out a different side of Sofia, which Michaela Jaé Rodriguez is already portraying beautifully. Seeing the ensemble’s strengths and vulnerabilities explored this early in the season is such a great incentive to keep tuning in every week.

Molly and Arthur Are (Finally!) All In
For Arthur, that manifests through an allergic reaction to a gold chain – Loot has its finger on the pulse! That hilarious yet scary bit is also great at symbolizing that Arthur is great as himself. Before Loot even gets there, it’s fantastic to see that Arthur gets his own declaration with Molly. That said, “Bye-Bye Mode” also gives another relationship its time – Molly and Sofia’s.
“Would Hit” really succeeds with Molly and Arthur after two seasons of anticipation. The first episode’s acknowledgment of an “inappropriate workplace relationship” suggests that hurdle may come back at some point. For now, though, Loot keeps things light and sweet by showing how this relationship is a breath of fresh air for both of them. It was also such a fun twist to see Molly prove that she’s not “a fragile flower,” like Nicholas says, by stepping up and saving Arthur’s life. From Super Bowl ads and billionaire-owned islands, it’s great to be back with the Wells Foundation team for another season.
