We’re back! In High Potential Season 2 Episode 7 ‘The One That Got Away,’ AKA the Fall Finale, Morgan and Nick have their first major conflict, while the investigation into Roman gives us some answers and many more questions. Ready?
Here we go!
Pure Fire

In High Potential Season 2 Episode 7 ‘The One That Got Away,’ sparks flew between Morgan and the art consultant. She mentioned that she wasn’t interested in commitment. Just something quick and fun, nothing serious. And that’s what this is. This man is the complete opposite of what she is.
He’s there to defend the interests of a wealthy company and doesn’t care about the people affected by it. Morgan cares about the people. He’s too arrogant for his own good, and she hates him for it. They’re sort of rivals, challenging each other.
But he was there, investigating with her after Morgan beat him at his own game. He did the same thing she did: jump right in without thinking about the rules or the consequences. What’s between them in High Potential Season 2 Episode 7 ‘The One That Got Away’ isn’t anything serious or meaningful. It’s fun. It’s attraction and passion. And it’s fire.
And yes, we don’t like watching Morgan with anyone else but Karadec. But this is part of the process. Morgan may be ready for a long-term commitment, but we’re not there yet. What we didn’t expect is that this guy was precisely the criminal they were looking for. And now we’re just worried that he hasn’t realized that Morgan already knows.

Internal Conflicts

Honestly, we didn’t think we’d ever say this, but we rooted for Nick in the fight he had with Morgan in High Potential Season 2 Episode 7 ‘The One That Got Away.’ Nick is right. Yeah, it wasn’t right of him to yell at Morgan like she was a little girl in front of everyone. However, everything he said? Nick couldn’t have been more right. Morgan needs to understand that she works with the police, and even if her methods aren’t the most orthodox, that still means she has to follow some rules. Especially if her safety is at stake.
This is what Morgan was trying to get across to Ava a few episodes ago: think before you act. Like with Ava, everything went well. But if it hadn’t, what would have happened? Morgan doesn’t have a badge or a gun. And neither did the guy she was with. If they were in danger, they could have been seriously hurt. And “I’m sorry” doesn’t solve anything, nor is it enough.
Morgan needs to learn from her mistakes, not pretend to say “I’m sorry” and move on. Besides, challenging Nick like that isn’t the best idea either. Nick is her boss… and her position is on the line. Karadec tried to make Morgan aware of this, but it didn’t help much. He knows both Nick and Morgan are overstepping their boundaries in High PotentialSeason 2 Episode 7 ‘The One That Got Away.’ But they’re both too proud to see it.
Despite this, Karadec also defies Nick by disobeying two direct orders in High PotentialSeason 2 Episode 7 ‘The One That Got Away.’ The last one, didn’t make much sense, though. Nick told him to let the carjacking go, and he was right. They were there for a much bigger goal. But Karadec didn’t listen, and that ended up causing them to split up, endanger each other, and lose the suspect.
And this is a problem because Nick is their superior, but more than that, they have to trust that when he gives an order, he does so because it’s best for both the case and the team. All of this wouldn’t have happened if Selena had given the exact same orders. And yes, we’re aware of the irony that we don’t trust Nick, and we’re asking the team to do just that.

Other Stuff in High Potential Season 2 Episode 7 ‘The One That Got Away’

- We’re so intrigued by this whole Roman backpack thing! Who is this guy trying to get it back? What does he have to do with Roman’s disappearance?
- We hope Morgan understands why Ava called. She just wants to know what her father was like from someone other than her mother. From someone who knew a different side of him.
- We just need Morgan to be okay.
- And for them to catch that guy.
- We’re already looking forward to seeing Karadec’s reaction to learning that Morgan was in such danger.
- We haven’t forgotten that he tried to defend her from the captain.
- What will Nick and Morgan’s relationship be like now? Will he apologize?
- Nick knows about Roman and allowed them to continue investigating. Are we wrong about him?
- We need the new batch of episodes NOW!
High Potential Season 2 airs Tuesdays at 10 pm on ABC.
I think Nick is interested in Morgan and Roman because the FBI agent/case handler who was murdered was his girlfriend. He probably pulled some strings to get to that precinct (he’s third generation, right?) to get close to Morgan. He believes Roman was the killer or got her killed and wants revenge.
I’m glad Adam stood up for Morgan a bit in the car. I didn’t like Nick yelling at her in the precinct.
