1. Greenland (2020)
Greenland follows a family’s treacherous journey to safe haven “as the countdown to the global apocalypse approaches zero”. If you were to ask us, this film had us on the edge of our seats the entire time with little time to breathe. And for survival movies like these, we loved feeling the adrenaline along with these characters as they fought to survive a planet killing comet hitting Earth.
Baccarin plays Allison Garrity, wife to action star Gerald Butler’s John Garrity. They have a son Nathan who motivated them to try anything and everything to get to a safety bunker on the other side of the world. This disaster thriller did everything right. Because we learn quickly how close this family is, so we care about what happens to them. The sequel Greenland 2: Migration is set to release in theaters on January 9th, 2026.
Greenland is available to watch on HBO Max.
2. Deadpool (2016)
Deadpool tells the vigilante origin story of Ryan Reynold’s Wade Wilson. A former special forces operative who went under a rogue experiment and “gained accelerated healing powers and a twisted sense of humor.” This film was a breath of fresh air in the MCU for older audiences because it was innovative, vulgar, and sometimes heartfelt. Deadpool as a protagonist felt new because he couldn’t be compared to Captain America or Tony Stark.
Baccarin plays Wilson’s ex-fiancé Vanessa Carlysle who he still has lingering and lasting feelings for. His longing to reunite with her after his transformation drives his motivation to find Ajax. So, we’d say their relationship was and is the heart of this film which gave Baccarin a fun and subtle introduction into a big franchise like the MCU.
All 3 Deadpool movies are available to watch on Disney+.
3. Firefly (2002-2003)
Firefly was a fantasy show about a “crew of a small transport spaceship taking any job as long as it put food on the table.” More many, this is the sci-fi drama that began the careers of Nathan Fillion and Gina Torres and where most fans recognize Baccarin for. She played a companion named Inara Serra to those on the ship skilled in diplomacy and the finer arts of the galaxy.
This fourteen-episode series had us invested in their story of found family in a post war galaxy. Also, it had romance. Baccarin’s Inara and Fillion’s Malcom grew connected and fought an attraction to the other in the midst of it all.
Firefly is available to watch on Hulu and Disney+.
4. V (2009-2011)
V was a sci-fi drama that dealt in the aftermath of Earth having “it’s first encounter with an extraterrestrial race.” This was Baccarin’s breakout antagonist role on TV as she played Anna, leader of the Vs. She’s menacing and twisted, but with her own reasons. Upon arrival, she promoted peace and wanted to be friends with those on Earth. As expected, she had darker intentions.
If you love sci-fi, complex power dynamics, and questioning who is the good guy, watch this. Also, joining Baccarin is Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Erica Evans, an FBI agent who discovers Anna’s secret before anyone else. Cast alongside them are Jane Badler, Marc Singer, Scott Wolf, and Joel Gretsch.
V is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
5. Gotham (2014)
Gotham followed rising detective Jim Gordon’s navigating of “dirty politics of Gotham City’s justice system as well as the rise of malevolent villains.” The series consisting of five seasons acted as a Batman prequel show when Bruce Wayne was just an orphaned child. Baccarin played Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) wife and medical examiner Dr. Lee Thompkins. Her character is flawed and makes mistakes but is simply just trying to survive in a city torn by gangs and villains.
This is a story of Gotham City before Batman became a vigilante. And we think it was a nice expansion and exploration of DC characters we’ve become familiar with over the decades and some we didn’t know enough about.
Gotham is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
6. The Endgame
The Endgame is a drama starring Baccarin as Elena Federova and Ryan Michelle Bathe as FBI Special Agent Val Turner. Federova is a criminal mastermind who crosses paths with Agent Turner after Federova is captured. Thing is, just because Federova is imprisoned, doesn’t mean she’s trapped. So these two end up playing a cat and mouse kind of game with each other where its brains vs brains.
But the real reason you should watch The Endgame is Baccarin’s royal blue outfit from Carolina Herrera. She’s an absolute vision when she steps into frame, the floor length dress (or is it a coat) has a slit up to mid-thigh and a labelled collar with three quarter sleeves. And the look is so iconic that when you see her in it you automatically know which show its from.
The Endgame is available to watch on Prime Video and Apple TV.

7. Elevation (2024)
Elevation follows “post-apocalyptic survivors who find refuge in the Rocky Mountains to hide from giant insect-like creatures.” Baccarin played Nina alongside Maddie Hasson as Katie and Captain America himself, Anthony Mackie as Will. Their journey turns rough when one of them gets injured and needs medical help. In which they risk their lives traveling to the danger zone where the creatures thrive.
As Baccarin’s latest theatrical release, it’s full of action and tension. With high stakes and intense moments, this film could interest fans of Alien: Earth or the Alien film franchise in its entirety.
Elevation is available to watch on HBO Max.
