Look, we cried our way through the book, so we figured that when we finally got footage of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, we’d be crying too. And that’s proven to be very much true. Because we haven’t even watched the movie yet, and we’re already emotional. We have one year to prepare.
Yes, exactly one year. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will be released on November 20, 2026. And you don’t actually need to know anything about this particular book to figure out that what’s coming is going to hurt. If you’ve watched The Hunger Games, you already know Haymitch. You already know a little bit of his story. You know how President Snow fits in. You know how we get to Katniss.
The official description is giving us nothing, just in case you’re wondering. It reads: “THE HUNGER GAMES: SUNRISE ON THE REAPING revisits the world of Panem and follows young Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) twenty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.”
But we don’t have just a trailer, we have pictures! Pictures that are making us more sad, but pictures! You can see them below:

Then there’s the trailer. We knew. Seeing it, however, might just break you. And us.
