This week’s episode of Boston Blue was maybe our favorite so far of the freshman season. Season 1 Episode 6 “Code of Ethics” played with our emotions as we laughed and cried. We also loved all of the romance in the episode but ended up worried about Danny and Baez’s relationship and the fate of the Silvers due to Mae’s investigation and Sarah’s discovery. Basically, we have a lot of thoughts.
Long Distance Relationship

We were so excited when Maria Baez showed up at the beginning of “Code of Ethics.” If you’ve read our reviews, you know we absolutely love her and her relationship with Danny. And we loved watching her work with Danny, and Lena, to help solve their case. She definitely hasn’t lost her touch. It was so good seeing Danny and Baez work together again.
But it’s clear that the distance between Boston and New York is getting to Danny and Baez. Between that and their demanding jobs, they hardly see each other. Please, writers, we’re begging you: do not break these two up. We need happiness in our shows, and Danny and Baez’s relationship brings us happiness. Find a way to keep them together. Maybe Baez can transfer to Boston? Please?
Also, we have to mention how refreshing it is to see Baez and Lena get along. So many shows pit females against each other, and we’re proud that Boston Blue didn’t go there. It was so sweet that Baez brought Lena coffee, and it was funny when she offered Lena Danny’s food. We really hope we see more of this friendship soon.
Leak in the D.A.’s Office

The other big story in “Code of Ethics” was the investigation of someone leaking information in the Mae’s office. At first, we were proud of Mae, and Sarah, for looking into the leak no matter the consequences. But then Sarah discovers the leak is the ADA who put Sarah’s father’s killer behind bars.
So, now, not only is every case this ADA investigated in danger of being overturned, but Sarah’s father’s killer could be set free. We definitely understand why Sarah is so upset and begging Mae to drop the investigation. We’re interested to see if this new information will change Mae’s mind. If she continues, how will the rest of her family feel? We don’t think Sarah, Jonah, or Lena will be so understanding. This could tear their family apart, and we’d hate to see that.
Other Thoughts:

- We were very happy to see the return of Brian Rodgers! It seems like things are going well between him and Lena, and we love that! And we loved that he was there for her when she really needed support.
- We were proud of Lena for doing the right thing and not helping her friend’s younger brother get out of his legal situation. It was clear he had no intention of leaving the gang. What if Lena had gotten the charges dropped and then he hurt someone? That would be on her. We know it was hard for her not to help her friend, but sometimes the right thing is the hardest thing.
- Watching Lena impersonate Danny at dinner was absolutely hysterical. We laughed so hard.
- Jonah was an amazing friend to Sean in this episode. While Sean struggled with his feelings for Penny vs. how his dad felt, Jonah listened and then gave him advice.
- We know it must have been scary for Sean to tell Danny how he felt, but we’re proud of him. And we’re proud of Danny for how understanding he was.
