It’s coming down to the end for Finding Mr. Christmas, and quite frankly, it feels bittersweet and also frustrating. The season has been controversial, and there has been a lot of discord, because most people don’t like who’s been eliminated. The responses to some of the people who have been sent home have been vicious. We’ve not exactly been nice about it.
If you’ve read our reviews, we have a thing against Craig because of the first episode and how he was edited. Seemed too rude. But somehow, his edits have developed in a way that we may have been wrong. I think that the hardest thing with reality TV is the editing. You really don’t know who a person is; you can make your assumptions, you can make your guesses, and you can try and figure it out, but who the person is and what they stand for.
So yes, I have said a lot, but also been here thinking about what the men on this show are truly after. Do they want to be famous? Are they using this as a stepping stone? What is the motive?
Because yes, I do believe that there is more that we’re not getting.
Even a Hallmark reality show can be complicated. But you can count on that, even in that complication, they will touch your heart. Hallmark is good at that, making us all feel all the feels. This episode was all about the men’s relationship with their mothers. If there’s one thing that we should all know or well hopefully feel is that our mother is our biggest fan. Mothers are the people who stand beside us, stand behind or beside us, holding us up, making sure that we know that there’s nothing that we can’t do if we try.
The festive face off this week, the men had them write letters to their moms. They had 10 minutes to write a heart letter to their mom. Each found themselves writing heartfelt things in their own way. It was a great way to see a different side to all of them, because they are all so different.
The judges, well, they brought in the moms of the contestants to judge. It was just a moment that like made me tear up. Why? Because you saw grown men who had spent a long time on this show, but they were brought to life with their moms being there. Each one is scared of the possibility of losing their space on the show. When it comes down to it, we’re living in a moment where they are chasing their dreams. However, getting to chase it with the person who gave birth to you, who stood beside you, well, that is one of the most beautiful things in the world.
The Star Quality challenge is all about creating a connection with Mom. Their Mom will be played by Sharon Lawrence, with their Moms watching on. That’s pressure.
It was kinda interesting to watch, and if we’re being honest, I would’ve thought Craig won. However, Angel did win, and he was so excited. The greatest part about all this was that their moms got to watch them perform. Seeing their mom‘s experience, seeing them feel everything, and experiencing their son shining felt like everything that is and could be special about this show.
They all were working to create a connection with their co-star, but I didn’t even notice what they did because I only cared what their Mom thought. And those reactions were priceless.
I know that everything happens for a reason, but what that reason is – who the hell knows.
We are ending this season of the show soon. It’ll get harder to make choices, but for once, this is a choice we agree with. The person to go was the person who we thought would go the first week. Marcus. Marcus – you’ve opened up, you’ve changed, and you’ve been better. We can appreciate that. We do agree, it was time for Marcus to go.
I just don’t know who I want to win because we’re looking at Ruston, Angel, and Craig. Being honest with you, we don’t really see any of them as Mr. Christmas. We do trust Jonathan and Melissa though.
Jonathan and Melissa have a connection to the show that we don’t have. They know what Hallmark wants. We don’t know what a person’s gonna be like once they win, but we’re going to give the benefit of the doubt.
There are things about the finalists that we don’t get yet. None of them has made us so invested that we have to have them win. We want to care – because that’s what makes us invested. We’re still up in the air, but in Jonathan Bennett we trust.
