We’ve made no secret of the fact that we’re obsessed with Emily In Paris. We do understand how Season 5 ended, and we do love that Emily chose herself. We’ve been in the television game long enough to be able to play the long game.
Sometimes our willingness to play the long game in television, books, or movies showcases our delulu. The thing we can count on Emily In Paris to surprise us, so we are secure in our delusion.
If you’ve watched this season, you know that Emily and Marcello broke up in episode 10, after his Mom steps down from the head of Muratori, giving the helm to Marcello. Emily needs to decide if she wants to move to Solitano and stay there, working for the Muratori brand, or go back to the life that she has built in Paris. The two end up going their separate ways.
So what did Lily Collins think of the ending?
“I think that there was this kind of fairytale dream that came with Marcello,” Lily Collins told People. “And [Emily] really does appreciate, respect and love him as a human. But I think she acknowledged that it wasn’t the life that she wanted and she wasn’t done living the exploration of herself yet. And it wasn’t that it would have been a bad life, it just wouldn’t have been the fulfilling, correct life for her in this moment. I really liked that she was brave enough to make that decision. And as painful as it was, it was done with love and respect. And I appreciated the way that they both said goodbye in a sense.”
While this may be the best for now, and we totally support Emily choosing herself, we’re holding out that Marcello and Emily are endgame.
