Emilia Clarke is once more gracing our screens in Peacock’s Ponies! This time around she’s speaking Russian in the 1970’s, involved in spy missions, and juggling two love interests in the middle of it all. Joining her character Bea is Haley Lu Richardson’s Twila. While Bea is a little more buttoned up and about following the rules, Twila is abrasive and fearless. Together they somehow evade the most dangerous CIA and USSR operatives. Why? Because they’re women. They’ve overlooked, under-appreciated, apparently are “persons of no interest” aka Ponies.

Synopsis:
Moscow, 1977. Two “PONIES” (“persons of no interest” in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives. Bea (Emilia Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila (Haley Lu Richardson), is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.
The Cast:
Ponies stars Emilia Clarke as Bea and Haley Ru Richardson as Twila. Both play wives who have lost their spy husbands due to a supposed aircraft crash. They then go undercover to try and figure out what happened. Their handler is Dane, played by Adrian Lester. The trailer also hints at two possible love interests for Clarke’s Bea. One is Andrei, played by Artjom Gilz. And the other is Sasha, played by Petro Ninovskyi.
