Look, if we’re not laughing, we’re crying. Especially these days. It seems like the world is one dumpster fire after another. Netflix realizes that we all need to laugh, and in a barrage of other news, they announced A Hundred Percent, starring Nick Kroll, Sam Richardson, Jason Mantzoukas, and Vanessa Bayer.
A Hundred Percent is a half-hour comedy about a group of friends working inside the Thought Leader industrial complex. Their books, podcasts, and morning routines might help us live our lives more perfectly, but away from the screens and mics, they are most definitely far from perfect.
This sounds like the potential for a dumpster fire of chaos, and we’re always down for that. Netflix has a strong slate of scripted television, and we’re just going to drop this in here – they need to stop dropping the whole series at once. If we’ve learned anything from The Summer I Turned Pretty and Heated Rivalry, people want something to keep going back to.
Weekly television can deliver high numbers.
Kroll said in a statement, “I am thrilled to make this show with Gabe and this insane cast. I can’t wait to explore this high-functioning group of friends who endeavor to live their weird lives!”
Gabe Liedman (PEN15, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) will be the showrunner. Executive producers will include Max Joseph (Catfish, We Are Your Friends, 15 Minutes of Shame), Alex Plapinger (The Legend of Ochi, Wild Life), and Nick Kroll (History of the World: Part II, The League).
Liedman’s statement cracked us up, “Picture me doing the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders’ “Thunderstruck” flawlessly right now because that’s how I feel. This team, Netflix and this cast?! I feel especially lucky to be working with Nick again, and I promise to do my best to bring you all something nuts to watch very soon.”
A Hundred Percent reunites Kroll and Liedman, asKroll served as co-creator and Executive Producer of Big Mouth with Liedman as a Writer/Producer on the critically acclaimed, award-winning series. Big Mouth ran for 8 seasons and earned over 415M total views across 81 episodes since its 2017 debut.
A Hundred Percent is set to join Netflix’s strong scripted comedy slate, including series favorites Nobody Wants This, Running Point, A Man on the Inside, Emily in Paris, Tires, Survival of the Thickest, and the upcoming release of GOLF and Big Mistakes.
