Emily Bader will always live rent free in our mind. Why? Because My Lady Jane and now because of People We Meet On Vacation. We will watch her in everything and yes, we will always mourn the cancellation of My Lady Jane no matter what.
The actress has booked her next role and well, we’re only imagining the cardio that shes’ going to have to do. This is not a joke, we hate running so we understood when her character in People We Meet On Vacation said that they hated running. The cardio game is going to have to be strong in Bader’s role in The 99’ers. Bader will be playing legendary soccer star Mia Hamm.
The movie is based on the book, The Girls of Summer: The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team and How It Changed the World by Jeré Longman.
The movie is about the 1990s U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. In 1999, they emerged victorious in a dramatic penalty kick shootout against China in the World Cup final. No one seemed to know if they could do it – but the team beat the odds and their win altered the course of women’s sports, forever.
Hamm joined the U.S. national team at the age of 15, making her the youngest player ever to be a part of the squad. She remained on the team from 1987 to 2004, and is a twice named FIFA World Player of the Year. Hamm is an icon and as of 2007 is in the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
The 99’ers will be directed by Nicole Kassell, who most recently directed two episodes of Sirens for Netflix. She’s also worked on such projects as The Americans, Claws, and Watchmen.
