We’re on Heated Rivalry mode. We’ve been on Heated Rivalry mode for months here at Fangirlish. But even as we stay in that bubble, we’re thinking… okay, now where’s our sapphic sports show? Well, if you’ve been wondering just that, we might have an answer for you, once again, thanks to Crave! And though the show doesn’t yet have a release date or a US distributor, we’ve already seen enough to be super excited for it.
Picture this. Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire and Frasier‘s Jess Salgueiro in a queer AF show in mockumentary style about an underdog slo-pitch softball team? Sign us right up! We already love everything about this, and we haven’t watched one second yet.
The show is based on a web series of the same name that played on OutTV and in the U.S. on IFC. The original web series was created by J Stevens, Gwenlyn Cumyn, and Karen Knox, who all return for the new adaptation. J Stevens serves as executive producer and director, while Gwenlyn Cumyn and Karen Knox return to write, produce, and act.
But what do we know about the show? Here’s a compilation of all available information, which we’ll update as more becomes available.
Are there any pictures for Slo-Pitch?
Just the one in the cover of this article, but we’ll be sure to update as soon as there’s more! For now, follow the show on Instagram.
What is Slo-Pitch about?
The 10-episode show, which, much like the webseries it’s based on, will tell its story in the very common mockumentary format we’re not used to, thanks to shows like The Office, Parks and Recreation, and more recently, Abbot Elementary, will—unlike those shows—be set in the sports world, even if it’s not professional sports. Still, it’s women’s sports, something we rarely get to see. In fact, how we miss A League of Their Own.
Slo-Pitch’s synopsis reads: “Welcome to the world of beer league sports, where Joanne Pico is to coach six-time league losers, The Public Lass Brovaries. Coach Joanne is dead set on turning things around this season despite having just been brutally dumped by her girlfriend and co-founder of the team.
Throughout the summer, Joanne leads her lovable, chaotic crew through a season of strikeouts, petty rivalries, conservative-politician sponsors, and sexy carwash fundraisers gone wrong. With her ex now playing on a rival team, Joanne’s got a lot to prove this season. It’s time to win the breakup, get the gang back together, and maybe even find new love over beers in the dugout.”
When is Slo-Pitch coming?
There’s no release date for Slo-Pitch yet, but the show’s official X page confirmed that it will be premiering in 2026.
Where can you watch Slo-Pitch?
Just like Heated Rivalry, you can watch Slo-Pitch on Crave in Canada. As of writing, the show does not have a US distributor. But hey, Heated Rivalry didn’t either until like a week before the show started airing. So, fingers crossed.
Who is in the cast of Slo-Pitch?
The show stars a few familiar faces: Emily Hampshire and Jess Salgueiro. Karen Knox, Gwenlyn Cumyn, Emma Hunter, Chelsea Muirhead, Lane Webber, Khadijah Roberts-Abdullah, and Amanda Cordner also star, with women’s softball legend Ayami Sato, the first woman to play in a Canadian men’s professional baseball league, making a guest appearance. Other guests include Varun Saranga, Laura De Carteret, Don MacLean Jr., Carolyn Taylor, Chris Locke, Chris Sandiford, and Nadine Bhabha, who is also a writer on the series.
Is there a trailer for Slo-Pitch?
Not yet, but we will be sure to share it when there is!
