The Traitors Season 4 Episode 6 “Planning a Coup” marks a major shift for the traitors and faithful. For the traitors, Rob did something that could be seen as unforgivable by his fellow traitors: he voted against one of his very own. But what are you supposed to do besides play the game? Either way, this could break them. As for the faithful, the easy targets are out and everyone will be looked at a little closer. There’s no hiding. And it means we’re closer to eliminating our first traitor than ever before.

1. The ones on the chopping block were Ron, Colton, and Lisa. Which one had the best defense? And why was it Ron?

Lizzie: I thought Ron’s entire defense at the roundtable was masterful. Truly, A+. He was helped by Rob, who I believe was being strategic not nice, but that’s neither here nor there. His whole “I’ll fall on the sword for my fellow faithful” and going around telling everyone something nice about themselves? Truly inspired. He almost made it, too. In the end he wasn’t able to convince enough people, but he went from 100% being sent home to having a shot and I think that deserves recognition.
Lyra: Ron’s defense defined his time on The Traitors Season 4. He knew that his time was done, said his peace, was kind and courteous, and then left the game. And he did all of that in a way where the ones that remain in the game look like jerks. Because this isn’t about who is a traitor or not, at the heart of it all. This is a popularity contest. And it shows after this speech.
But I do have to disagree on one thing Lizzie said. >.< I’ve never truly liked Rob until this very moment. And honestly, I think he was being nice when it came to Ron. When you’re playing a game like this it’s hard to stand up for Ron because then all eyes will be on you. But Rob still did it. And it was the right thing to do because it felt like the contestants were picking on Ron because he was an easy target.
Shana: It was Lisa because she’s Lisa Effing Rinna. I kid, I kid. (Mostly.) No, like everyone else already said, it was Ron. He knew he was done and, instead of creating some drama just for the sake of scoring more camera time, he met all that hate with love. It was unexpected, which meant more people are going to be talking about him and interested in supporting his actual career outside of The Traitors than if he’d just done the usual reality TV thing. And he didn’t have to sacrifice who he was to score that. A longterm win (and an own on everyone else), even if it was a loss for this game.
2. With Rob voting for Lisa, are the traitors splintering? Was it the right decision?

Lizzie: I think this puts him in the strongest position going forward, because absolutely no one suspects him. And if Lisa is voted out, they’ll suspect him even LESS. So, I think he made the right decision for himself. Was it the right decision for the traitors as a whole? Probably not, and I’m not sure how he gets Candiace and Lisa to trust him again after this. But it’s not like they can murder him and no one’s voting him out at this point, so…
Lyra: The traitors are absolutely cracking. Why? Because they underestimated Rob. They saw him like I did at the beginning of the show, an air-head from a dating reality TV show. Now they know he’s strategic but also kind. And knowing that there’s more to him is going to divide Lisa and Candiace’s attention when they should just be focused on the faithful and winning the game.
As for this being a right decision for Rob, it 100% is. The faithful are closer than ever to clocking one of the traitors. And if Lisa goes down, they’re not going to suspect Rob. He’s safe. Even better, this show in itself acts as a clean slate for him that changes peoples’ minds about him but introduces him to new audiences. So 10/10 for him.
Shana: Let’s pretend literally anyone other than Lisa was the third traitor. In that case, Rob’s strategic reasons for voting for this imaginary third person would make sense. But, my dude, you just double-crossed Lisa Rinna. Good luck!
As far as the traitors fracturing goes, uh, yeah. You have two housewives versus the guy who just voted for one of them, knowing she’s a traitor. Again, I say: Good luck!
3. What are we thinking about Rob? Because he was problematic AF in Love Island USA and now loveable in Traitors.

Lizzie: I’m very surprised by how much I’m enjoying this man. Probably because even though I’ve heard he was messy I didn’t actually see it, because I didn’t watch Love Island USA. I might be singing a different tune if I had. But overall he seems to be playing one of the strongest games. He’s got a real shot to win this. And though I think his decision to vote for Lisa was 100% strategic, I kinda applaud him for pretending it’s not. That’s also part of the game.
Lyra: When Love Island USA went viral, I tried watching Season 6. And you know who put me off? Rob. I couldn’t stand him. He was over the top, played games, and didn’t seem like someone I wanted to spend my time watching. So I ditched the show. Then he walks into Season 4 of The Traitors. And honestly, it’s making me rethink everything I know about him. Because this Rob, he’s nothing like the man I saw on Love Island USA.
This version of Rob is smart. He likes to play the game with his fellow traitors. But he also genuinely likes some of the faithful and feels for them. He’s not just there to murder like Lisa is, because she’s having fun more than anything. And he’s also not there to manipulate like Candiace is, because that’s how she knows she’ll win the game. Basically, Rob has a real chance at winning this because he takes the biggest risks to throw people off his scent. But it also comes from a genuine person who knows this is a show with real people in it.
Shana: I didn’t watch Love Island, so I only have The Traitors to go by. I want to like him after he supported Ron like that, and he’s playing a really interesting game right now. Is he really starting to get too attached to some of the faithful and forget his actual role? Maybe. Or maybe it’s all master strategy, plus a clever edit. I genuinely don’t know, and I think both situations are kinda fun.
4. Another episode, even better looks. What was your favorite contestant outfit?
Lizzie: Natalie’s black bodysuit was fire. I loved it. She looked so good in it. I don’t know if I could rock it, but you gotta admire her for wearing the hell out of it. It felt very on brand and she looked amazing.
Lyra: At first… I wasn’t sold on Natalie’s look. I thought it was just a top. Then she stood up and I was sold. Yes, it looks a little cheesy and like she’s one step away from kicking my a** because she looks like a video game character. But she looks amazing and pulled it off. Also, let’s not forget she matched this with heels. Truly, we have been gifted each week by Natalie.
Shana: What if I want to throw it back to Johnny Weir in his “I just fell in a loch” couture?
5. What do you hope happens next?

Lizzie: Look, I want a little chaos. And I guess any chaos will be Colton related, because Colton is right now the most divisive contestant left. The thing is, if he leaves now, does the game get more boring? It might be more interesting if Lisa is voted out next. Max drama.
But I still think I would rather it were Colton. Won’t complain if it goes the other way around, though.
Lyra: I want the traitors to start turning on each other. This is our first year watching so we don’t know if this has happened before. But these trio? Oh they are broken, especially Lisa. This is betrayal and she will hit back when the time is right. Candiace, I’m not 100% sure on yet. Because she might be bothered by Rob’s decision, but it’s about the game first. Either way, if a traitor is going to served up first, I hope it’s Lisa. Imagine Colton’s face then when he’s right???
Traitors airs new episodes every Thursday on Peacock.
Shana: I need these fools to realize Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski are besties already. This is nuts.
