Brilliant Minds is in the ICU — and yeah, we’re worried. Episode 14 ended and something felt off. Not in a dramatic way. More like… unfinished. The cliffhanger was there, but that wasn’t the problem. The problem came right after. With the promo. Or whatever that was supposed to be.
What’s Going on with Brilliant Minds Season 2?
NBC is about to focus on the Winter Olympics. When that happens, scripted shows move out of the way. This part isn’t new. Brilliant Minds taking a break after the February 2 episode wasn’t shocking. It happens. Most of the schedule pauses. A few shows don’t. The Rookie is one of them.
Still. The Episode 15 promo didn’t look normal. It was short. Really short. No new scenes. Just stuff we’d already seen. And no return date. No graphic. No voiceover. Nothing. I watched it twice because I thought I’d missed something.
I hadn’t.
At first, it felt careless. Like someone rushed it out. Now it doesn’t feel careless at all. According to Variety, NBC has pulled the final six episodes of Brilliant Minds from the schedule. After the Olympics, the Monday night slot goes to The Voice: Battle of Champions starting February 23. As for Brilliant Minds itself, there isn’t a date. Or even a window that feels solid. Later in the season. Maybe summer. That’s it. That’s all that’s been said.

So What Does that Actually Mean?
Probably nothing good. The ratings haven’t helped. The January 12 episode pulled a 0.19 rating and around 2.6 million viewers, not counting Peacock. That’s the latest Live+7 data we have.
Season 1 ended very differently. A 0.32 rating. 4.2 million viewers. The drop is there. You don’t need to overthink it. And it matters more when NBC is also looking at five new drama pilots for the 2026–2027 season.
Does this mean cancellation? Not yet. Those decisions usually come closer to May, around Upfronts. Right now, the show is just… there. Waiting.
Which makes this part important.
When Brilliant Minds comes back, it’s going to need people watching. Live. Talking about it. Reminding NBC that the audience didn’t disappear. The show’s in bad shape, sure. But it’s still on life support.
Brilliant Minds Season 2 airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. When it comes back.
