DOC Season 2, Episode 15 fooled me by the episode title. Trust? No, DOC, I do not trust you. I don’t trust anything about you right now except that ultimately, you’re going to make me question everything. Who and what can I believe in? Are my ships going to last? Can I trust that anyone will ever stay gone?
I don’t know DOC, I truly don’t know what to expect from you anymore. I just know that right now I feel like you gave me Jake and Amy together only for you to be putting up things in their way that may have them ending up with the people that are supposed to be part of their past in the love department. I guess though that you never really know what finding out the truth can change?
And what trauma can.
It seems that what I have learned throughout the years is that you can never really know what tomorrow will bring. You also never really know what people will find a way to use against you.
HE CHEATED
As we know from the last episode that Amy told Michael she knew about the cheating. What I am shocked about is that he never knew that she knew.
Am I surprised though, that Amy is angry over it? Nope. Am I surprised that she doesn’t want to talk to Michael? Nope. What I am thankful for is that she has Jake to support her.
When Katie comes to the ER with a panic attack, Amy and Michael head to make sure she’s okay. They have a drag out fight in front of her and it’s probably the first time that they’ve been honest with each other. Sure, it was screaming and it almost sent Katie into another panic attack – but they were honest.

And for the first time, Michael finally said that is on his mind.
But also, Amy was able to be there for Katie. She was able to tell her that she should tell her father and it will help her. Amy didn’t want her daughter to live with that guilt anymore. She didn’t destroy their marriage. Michael and Amy did that on their own.
POKER
Gina and Jake are treating a professional poker player. He had a crash out and flipped a table and he’s pretty sure that something is wrong with him. He’s even had himself restrained.
Tests show that nothing is wrong. The doctors decide to have a poker game to see if a bunch of doctors watching him they can see something. They are all watching and Jake and Gina notice that his eyes dilate, which gives them an opening for more tests.
Some can discount what Gina does, but she’s actually really insightful. She knows that sometimes you need to look at not only the body, but the mind. So, during an endoscopy she has them remove a benign growth.
She knows that poker playing is all about confidence and so removing it gives him the confidence that he needs to go back in and play poker like only he can. I think it even surprised Jake how Gina just knew.
A lot of the time we don’t give Gina the credit she needs, but she deserves a lot.
MILLER
Richard Miller needs to go away. I think we can all agree on that. I also know that man doesn’t think of anyone but himself and doesn’t care who he hurts.
He’s there to settle with the hospital, but things have changed. Seeing the chaos that the hospital has been under, he’s decided that yes – he wants the hospitals insurance to pay them off. But he wants a three year contract to come back to work.
And he makes it known that if they’re letting Amy get away with stuff, then he should be allowed back too.
No one is going to say to Amy that she’s the sweetest person. She’s not. But she’s changing and for Richard – he’s not shown that he’s done that. What he has shown is that yes, he wants to be a doctor. What he’s also shown is that he can’t be trusted.
Amy didn’t kill someone and cover it up. She had a bad attitude and was rude. Yes, that’s come back to bite her. But Richard, well what he’s done is cost someone their life and not shown remorse.
When Douchey board guy tells Amy that she is at fault for Richard coming back – well – I wanted to slap him. But what she does is stand there, stunned. I wouldn’t know what to say either.
This isn’t just about Amy. They all know what he did. How is anyone supposed to think that this is ok?

LIVER NEEDED
Amy’s patient is a grandmother who comes in with stomach pains. We quickly find out that her liver is failing and she needs a transplant. Her granddaughter wants to give her part of hers and the grandmother refuses.
There is something in us all that will always want to save the people that we love. It’s human nature, I think. I also think that it’s okay to want to fix things for others and accept that we can’t always be that person. This grandmother doesn’t want her granddaughter to be cut open, but the granddaughter isn’t ready to let her die.
I think that we all need to pay attention to the secrets that we keep and the things that we should be admitting to our families. The history of alcoholism is important – especially if this granddaughter wants to give up part of her liver. Amy though – she’s stuck in this position where she can’t tell them anything. HIPPA.
There always needs to be conversations when you’re trying to be there for someone. Sometimes its about hearing and sometimes its about listening. For Amy, she hears and comes up with a plan that ultimately saves a lot of lives.
I think that the way that we creatively solve problems and minimize peoples pain – its a gift to have that quality. Amy isn’t perfect. We all know that. But what she is – well she’s growing. That may be the best gift she can give her patients and herself.
KATIE COMES CLEAN
I can’t even imagine what Katie is going through. That poor kid has the weight of the world on her shoulders and she’s trying to carry it all. Unfortunately, that has resulted in her panic attacks. BUT, with her mothers support, she decides to come clean with her father and tell him what she once did.
She may have shown her Mom her Dads phone, and told her that he was cheating. She was young and she thought that would give her Mom a reason to be nicer to her Dad.

Luckily Amy told Michael what it was that Katie wanted to say, before they went in. Michael was thankful so that they both knew how to react to Katie. Katie got the support that she needed, but Michael and Amy also got something. They got an understanding of why it was that Amy left, but also Michael said that – to Amy only – was that they could have made it.
I wish that I could believe what Michael is saying, but I am not sure I can trust him. He may not have ever known that Amy knew – but I will also say that there could have been conversations.
Just him saying that though – I was like they had better not open up that possibility. The possibility of Michael and Amy being back together. It’s too late for that. But they need to make sure that Katie never finds out the rest.
That Nora is Nate. That Michael was breaking it off when Katie saw him in the car. All that didn’t need to be known.
Katie was most important.
JOAN IS…
Dare I say that Sonya is growing on me. She is. In this episode with Joan out and TJ and Sonya trying to figure out what is going on – I was not sad about it. She and TJ trying to solve where she’s been.
And why she’s lying.
Now I am not sad that Joan has been gone, but she is being reckless with her health around others. She’s in a high pressure situation and she’s performing surgeries and what we’re left with is a leader we can’t trust.
When she returns and Sonya is going through her office – thankful for TJ that he played interference. Joan is hiding her illness and we need that to come out.
