We’ve talked before about Armand Procacci, right? The vertical series actor is starring in Miss Perfect & Her Monster, playing a bad boy that turns good. He’s the “monster” that you are warned about. Starring opposite of him, Gabrielle Faith Brown, “miss perfect” is Bella, who has her whole life figured out for her. Until these two meet. Procacci and Brown are reason enough to watch this vertical.
It’s a new school year and Bella’s car is taking her to school. She looks over and sees a hot guy getting road head. She’s both embarrassed and curious. He doesn’t mind that she’s watching – Tyler Blake is a rebel. A rebel that has basically gotten kicked out of his previous school for things he shouldn’t have done with the headmasters daughter. His father wants to know that he’ll behave and not get kicked out of school. Tyler tells him not to worry, but maybe its just me that I would see that as a red flag.
Tyler wants to please everyone but doesn’t want to show it. He wants his stepsister more than anything – but I firmly believe that is just because he can’t have her. Not because she’s actually desirable. Caroline, his stepsister, is the devil.
Caroline is one of those entitled rich kids who thinks that being poor is a disease. She doesn’t like anyone besting her – so the idea that Bella continues to is the worst thing to her. She decides that feeding Tyler to Bella is the best thing to do. Tyler can break her and then Caroline can get what she wants.
Jacob had broken up with her and told her that he needs to start thinking about his future and that future is Bella.

Now, I get that every story has a villain. Caroline is a villain but I also have to ask at what point does she learn how to be a girls girl? Mean girls are so gross and Caroline is just that. She’s set it up at every turn to beat Bella down and make her the pariah of the school.
It doesn’t matter to Caroline that no one genuinely likes her. To her people fearing her and doing what they are told to do is all that she needs. I hate her. I know that’s a strong word, but I really strongly dislike this character. I hate that she can’t be a girls girl and when people try to tell her to give it up, she doesn’t want to.
Caroline doesn’t like being a decent human being. She instead, likes to create chaos and blackmails her brother, while making Bella’s life a living hell. I can not for the life of me understand how she’s able to get away with so much crap. It’s exhausting.
When Tyler tells her he doesn’t want the prize – that he doesn’t want to sleep with her – Caroline looses her mind. She needs to be wanted and keeping her brother hanging on has always made him think that there is a chance.
Tyler is changing though. He doesn’t want to follow through on the bet – he has actually fallen for Bella. She’s making him want to be a better person. That even means being part of the mathletes and taking interest in the things she’s interested in.
I do think that Tyler really cares about Bella. He tries to push her away and she pulls back. Bella is so tired of people making choices for her, when she wants to make the choices for herself. She’s grown.
When she finds out about the bet, she wants nothing to do with Tyler. Her heart is broken. He pushes her away so hard, because of the video that Caroline took of them having sex. Bella doesn’t know that though.
And then starts the part that I take issue with.
At Bella’s fathers fundraiser, the sex tape is played on the screen. Bella’s Dad is freaking out, and that’s understandable. First – no one wants to think about their kid like that, let alone see it. The damage that it is going to do to his campaign is what he’s most frustrated with though.
Tyler wants to rescue Bella so he tells her Dad that it is his fault, He says he coerced her and it wasn’t her fault. Everything that he keeps saying is a crime and Bella’s Dad isn’t afraid to put him in jail.
I had a visceral reaction to this. She’s off enjoying high school and doesn’t seem phased at him not being there. Yes, she misses him, but that is infuriating because she’s let him just rot in jail. Make it make sense.
I get that this is a show, but this is one of those things that takes a person out of a show. At least it did me. I was angry and I wanted to understand how someone could just let someone else take that burden on. But I also wanted to understand Tyler and why he did that. He is not stupid, so I have to wonder why.

The why would anyone do that and why would anyone let someone go to jail for something that was consensual. Tyler, you should have known better. Bella you should have been smarter. He didn’t coerce or threaten her – he just fell in love with her.
Ultimately he gets out and goes to see her from a distance. She sees him and chases after him – the two ending up together. It’s just I am wondering who comes up with this stuff and thinks that this is okay. You should never like about sexual consent.
I do love a vertical, but I do also believe that there is so much room for improvement here. People making them need to be more responsible and the writing needs to be on a different level. Verticals are gaining popularity and writers need to be more aware of what they are writing and influencing people with.
Until the lat 10-15 parts of the series, I would have given Miss Perfect & Her Monster 4 stars. It’s because of these parts of the series that I have to change my thought on that and give only 2.5 stars. We have to be more responsible with the things that we do and say.
