Sometimes being rich sounds great and at other times, it is a nightmare. Boarding school sounds fun, until you watch a show about the things that happen and even though it’s all dramatic – it makes you think. Secret Society: Till Blood Do Us Part is all about school, family, love and the takedown of a secret society that changed the face of a school.
An enemies to lovers storyline is always a good time – being as it is one of my favorite tropes. I didn’t expect to like this one, because at first the character of Rowan was highly annoying and the character of Alex was the type of entitle rich guy that made me roll my eyes and be thankful I never was rich.
But there is a reason that you won’t turn this show off and those reasons – well that would be Noah Andre and Kirsten Kendall. Let us all be thankful that Noah Andre exists and can lead anyone towards falling for a story and being unable to turn off what he’s in because he’s just that mix of suave and confident and has that half smile. Let us all be thankful that Kirsten Kendall can make anything fun. While Andre is drawing you in, it’s the two of them together — the two together make for entertainment and the inability to turn off the show.
SCHOOL
Rowan is offered a scholarship to the boarding school she’d always wanted to go to. She had made a promise to her Mom that she would make it there. But as soon as she arrives, Ashford Academy has plans in store for her.
She’s told that she needs to pledge a secret society – as her scholarship is tied to it. Rowan has been in foster care and she’s not one to give up. As a matter of fact, she’s one to dig her heels in even more when people bet against her.
What we do find out is that each year the seniors at the school make a sacrifice – believing that is what they need to do for things to not go bad. The meaning of sacrifice – I wondered if they meant murder or ruin their lives and get them kicked out of school. Either way it is deranged and crazy.
Alex, ends up being Rowans “big” and the person guiding her through school and the pledging process. He’s both hot and cold with her, making her confused. His friends think he’s gone soft, especially because he sleeps with basically everyone and has shown that he’s flirting with Rowan.
THEY ARE IMPORTANT TO EACH OTHER
Rowan doesn’t seem to know how important she is to the secret society and its dismantling. Alex can’t tell everyone in the society that he wants to take it down, so he seems to have a full proof plan to do just that. He just needs to get Rowan on board and learn if he can trust her also. He is walking a tight line also, as he can’t give his motives away.
Alex is a confusing character – at first – and makes you as the viewer think twice about what you are watching. However, as we go through the series, you can see that he is a conflicted character who isn’t sure of the path that he is on or if the choices that he is making are right. However, it also feels like part of his conflict is internal with the debate being that he never expected to be attracted to Rowan and is he putting her in harms way.
Rowans ancestor is the one who started the society and it can only be taken down by one of his bloodline. There has long been a rumor that whomever in his bloodline does take it down will get an inheritance. Being as that is true and when Rowan and Alex do take it down – I guess in a way he has helped her.
But I also don’t think that Alex traveled a road in this that he expected to come out the other side of – at least people knowing that he was a part of it.
THE ENDING
The chemistry with Andre and Montgomery on the screens make them believable as a two people falling in love. You believe that they care about each other and that for however long that they are together, they will be each others power and motivation. You believe that these two will protect each other.
And not everyone and every character comes across that way.
While I won’t give away the ending because it’s so good and you don’t see it coming – it sets up perfectly for a sequel. I’d like one.
Overall Secret Society: Till Blood Do Us Part is one of the better verticals out there. It’s drama, chaos, secret societies, enemies to lovers, forced proximity and more. Definitely worth the watch.
