With the sequel for The Devil Wears Prada coming out this May, we are excited. We want to know more about the sequel and who is in it. We also want to understand if a character that we loved isn’t in it, we want to know why.
In the first movie Andie and Nate had their issues, but we were wondering if he was coming back. Now, to be honest, Nate wasn’t one of our favorite characters, but he was such a big part of Andie’s life, we wondered if he was still there.
But that would mean Adrian Grenier would need to return, but apparently he was not asked back.
“We’re all fans of the movie, whether or not we’re in it. Obviously, it was a disappointment that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel, but I also understand there’s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it,” Adrian told Page Six. “But I think that just leaves room for a spinoff.”
We don’t think that any of us were asking for a Nate spinoff. That never was something that we were thinking of.
“Either way, it’s a disappointment,” he added, “Either way, it leaves room for a beautiful spinoff in which Nate has his own film.”
Grenier has been making the rounds talking about it and also spoke to US Weekly.
He said, “I would be bitter if I wasn’t so absolutely thrilled for Anne and the crew, and excited for the sequel myself. I’m a fan of the movie, and so I look forward to seeing the sequel as well. So yeah, I mean, obviously, I was disappointed [to not return], but you know, I can’t be in everything, you know?”
We honestly just want answers to what happened to Nate, but we are fine with whatever they chose. We know that it’s going to be good and have faith.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 releases on May 1st, 2026.
